New to AM. First Campaign on Mobile
Hi guys,
A little bit about me - 28 year old guy who's very new to AM and STM. Was on the forum reading bits and pieces here and there, and finally decided to launch my first campaign (after all the best way to learn is to get your hands dirty).
================================================== ================================================== ============
So anyway, this is the offer that I chose.
Offer: Whatsapp Wallpaper HD
Traffic: Revmob
Vertical: Mobile subscription
Geo: Malaysia
Bid: $0.02
Budget: I was thinking of spending $30 for the whole campaign
I have launched this with 2 different landers and 3 different banners for each landers.
So it's something like this - LP1 Banner1, LP1 Banner 2, LP 1 Banner 3 and then LP2 Banner1, LP2 Banner 2, LP2 Banner 3.
I have set the budget for each at $5 (lemme know if this is too little)
================================================== ================================================== ============
I'm already at day 2 with this offer and these are the stats that I have gotten so far.

I think I'm getting too little traffic, no ? Is this sufficient enough to gauge the data ?
If not, any suggestions on how to increase the traffic ? Bidding higher or changing traffic source, perhaps ?
I asked my AM to see if this offer is still doing well and she told me yes. So if continues to go on then I'd probably rethink my banners & LP's, cause people are actually still converting on this.
I'll update again at the end of day 3, but chances are I don't think there will be a significant change.
Anyway, all comments and feedback are appreciated.

So I've left the campaign running for a few more day just to see if I can get anything out of it. Essentially my stats are like this.

Still very low traffic for me to decide anything overall.
Anyway, I've decided to re-run the campaign. The only difference this time is that I'm running it on Android devices and I have also included one banner + LP that is in the native language of the geo (which is Malay). Hopefully I'll get more traffic this time for me to gauge the data.
Will be updating this space again.

Are you following the appetizer? Because you should probably be following the appetizer for a couple of campaigns. It may help sort out your traffic problems...

Yes I did follow the appetizer, but I did not use Decisive as my traffic source. I used Revmob instead cause I was told to stay away from Decisive - it's too tough for a newbie like me.

A great suggestion by gene!
The great caurmen has recently released a "Go2Mobi" version of the Mobile Cookbook! This network is very newbie-friendly and not nearly as saturated from what I can see. Here's the thread:
http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...tion-Appetiser
I'll leave you with that for now because there's really not much to comment on regarding your results so far. There's simply no stats to analyze. The only suggestion I have is that for MY, try English first, then Chinese (traditional and simplified) later. Malay usually isn't the best-converting language there.
Have fun and I'll be expecting to see updates on this follow-along!

Sorry I've gone missing for quite a bit. Was caught up with my normal day work and was a little stuck after running campaign #2 - as it wasn't converting well and I wasn't sure what variable to tweak.
Here's the story for campaign #2
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Offer: UC Browser
Geo: India
Payout: $0.54
So on the first day, I was running 5 angles with 5 banners ($20 budget to spend per day) - and I managed to get my first conversion.
All in all I spent S100 for 2 conversions, as show below.

Then I thought, okay it seems 'download speed' is converting. I tried to stick to this.

Second day I decided to test 3 direct linking with similar angle + 1 with LP; which is Banner 5.4 - to see if I could get more conversions. I didn't; and that's where I got stuck.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I decided to pause it for a while, start talking to other people.
Long story short, I will be moving on to the another campaign - which I will also be updating here; and this time I'll be doing it with someone who is more experienced than me. Super excited to see where this would lead us.

I'm afraid you're beating a dead horse here, these general utility apps dont convert anywhere close where they used to, and since the payouts are way lower now too, I wouldnt recomend it as a vertical for new people to start with. Last year, it was so easy to push these apps, now its gone, unless you already have a lot of experience with it, good creatives, whitelisted sources and most likely a good cloacker too. Your results pretty much prove it as well.
Did you already decide what are you gonna test with your next campaign? Apps again, or something else?

Yes it appears we will be doing apps again; the offer that we decided on is Wifi Master Key. We were doing a little bit of spying around and noticed this offer having potential. Coincidentally, my partner's AM also recommended this offer to him; hence we thought we'd give it a shot.
But I would like to hear more of what you think though. Should I stay away from this vertical ?
If yes, do you have any suggestions on where I can find relatively easier success.

Good choice! This is definitely one of the more promising apps right now. Be sure to split-test that with Swift Wifi (Avazu exclusive). When choosing geos, consult appannie first.
Have fun with that!

It's hard to make some definitive statements when it comes to recomending verticals, or naming those to stay away from. I dont like to post nonsense or hearsays, so I always stick to what I have first hand experience with.
I was running utility apps in large volumes, browsers were part of it, and I stopped doing it at some point because the ROI literaly went to shit. So here I can safely say, its too hard for a newbie to jump in without any experience.
Since I never tried the Wifi Master Key, I cannot really comment on it. Truth to be told, people are still promoting apps, so there has to be a way to profit on it.
Are there easier verticals? Sure they are, but it depends a lot on your skillset and background. I was running adult sites for ages, so for me, it was an obvious move to start with adult dating and I made it work and still push it to this day.
But will it be an easy vertical for you? I don't know. I already had accounts with the major networks, I knew the sites, I knew where the traffic was in adult ... but you probably dont, so I cannot really recomend this vertical to you.
PIN submit offers seem to be the hit these days, so you might want to try that out. Adult or mainstream, it works in both areas. It can be very easy to run, when you have the right traffic source and the right product. Finding them is the hard part and it costs money. You might be lucky and hit it with your first try or it might take you months. Its definitely worth a try tho.
But at the end of the day, it doesnt really matter all that much what vertical you start with as a new guy, the fundamentals are the same everywhere, and you will loose some money while learning them anyways. So learn the basics and once you feel confident with what you are doing, test a few verticals to find the one that suits you the most.
