Best fairs to attend 2016

What's the best fairs to attend in your opinion in 2016?

IMO

- ASW Vegas in January
- MWC Barcelona in February
- GDC San Francisco in March
- Appsworld Berlin in April
- DMEXCO Cologne
- AffiliateWorldAsia
- Berlin or Amsterdam Affiliate Conference (BAC/AAC) - only of the two, they're exact copies
- ASE New York in August

Here are the ones I'll be attending

Affiliate Summit West
Traffic and Conversions Summit
MWC Barcelona
Affiliate World

(I don't do Ad:techs anymore, or ASE)

I don't like to go to a conference or trip unless I know 100% it will benefit me.

Going to a conference typically takes 5 - 6 productivity days out of me and the opportunity costs are too huge

Thanks Doc ngo!

I've never heard of this fair: https://trafficandconversionsummit.com/
How does it compare to fairs like ASW and AffliateWorld?

it really depends on what exactly you do / your looking for!? the big/mixed events like MWC and DMEXCO are not too beneficial for the average affiliate in my opinion. they are oversized and the focus is not on the performance marketing industry. still great chance to catch the bigger picture and educate yourself. i expect the AW to be the highlight of the year. as well as there are many real cool meetups hosted by networks.

All of these events cater to different demographics and use cases.

The two major conferences that are focused on Affiliate Marketing are Affiliate World Conferences (run by the STM team) and the Affiliate Summits.

- For STM type affiliate marketers (paid traffic, large scale, global reach, with ambitions to hit $X,XXX,XXX a year or more), the Affiliate World conferences are definitely precision targeted to this group. (It is run by the same team as STM, after all) This really is not about mommy bloggers who are trying to make a few dollars a day from Amazon affiliate links to pay for hosting. This is really focused on people who have ambitions to do AM full time and scale big.

- I have never been to any Affiliate Summit event so I can't say anything about them first hand.

For more general conferences:

- Ad:tech is very much brand advertiser focused. Not too relevant for an affiliate marketing crown. I probably would not recommend making a specific trip for this. The panels and the keynotes tend to be people stating the blindingly obvious, and not much value or insights in terms of content.

- DMexco, on the other hand, is quite good. It is like Adtech but for a direct marketing crowd. If you are engaged in activity in Europe in particular, it works quite well.

Fully agree with you cmdeal. Only ad:tech is dying and really not worth going - just went to the one in london and if I would have known what i know know now, i would have stayed in the office (way more productive)

Leadscon is primarily for two verticals EDU and Finance and focused heavily on the US.

Both sectors in the US have been hit by a raft of (much needed) regulation which has made it difficult for many of the players on the lead generation side.

If you are involved in those sectors in there US, it can be worthwhile. If you are involved in other sectors, you will find the discussions to be much less relevant.

I went to AdTech SF this past year... pretty weak. they are moving it to LA, our backyard, so we'll check it out in 2016 for that reason alone. I've heard Ad-Tech NYC is pretty good and much larger.

ASE and ASW of course are great. we've got a booth at Aff World Asia - looking forward to how that goes.

ad tech was great in the day, but it has died. ASE is slowing down, but ASW is still strong. I like WMC and DMEXCO, but really its trying to find a needle in a haystack if you are looking for real business. AW is not something to miss at all, a must attend

Stopped in for Ad:Tech NYC last week. It was... underwhelming. There were a few networks (MaxBounty, Mundo) and a few traffic sources I hadn't heard of before; but only a few. It's a gamble... you can turn up a diamond in the rough on an untapped traffic source at a low cost ($50-75 USD for an expo pass). But if you have to travel from out of town for the event I'd say it's a miss.

Hey cbrughmans ,

I will be at ASW in Las Vegas! I was just at Ad:Tech New York and it has seemed to quiet down a lot!

Ad:tech is dead. Attended the one in London and it was 90% BS and loss of time. They've lost the focus and less and less people are attending.
