How to find bot placements on pops

Hey,

I've recently started to enter pop traffic, and have launched some campaigns. I'm getting traffic thats high ctr - but doesn't convert. What methods do people use to judge whether a placement is very 'bot heavy', and whether to cut it or not.

Thanks

There's antifraud software to detect this like Forensiq. Or you can see it if you have a lot of duplicate IPs or the traffic is coming from countries that you're not targeting.

It could also just be the offer is not converting, and the traffic is clean. In order to be sure, test an offer that you have proven results for and see if that yields results.

Are you split testing landing pages? If you are only using one landing page and get high CTR but no action then it could be the page itself. There are so many things to look at before deeming the traffic is bot traffic.

I wrote an article about this a while ago - http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...Your-Campaigns

The techniques in there aren't foolproof, and won't detect 100% of bots (some bots are crazy advanced), but they'll detect a lot of bot placements.

Another technique is just to try running a lander with a clickthrough that's hidden - either text the same colour as the background or actually set to "display: none". If that gets clicks, those clicks are almost certainly bots.

Sort your data by Placement ID >> ISP . If you see placements with a lot of hosting companies like amazon, softlayer, rackspace, google cloud etc then that placement is usually bots.

This is just 1 way to find bots.
