What is the best way to make the first buck with paid traffic? (18)

What is the best way to make the first buck with paid traffic?

It may sound like I'm a newb , but truth is- I'm not.
I have been around for about 2-3 years and I know almost all the methods and systems out there .
My income stream is currently coming only from SEO (+-$1000/a month).

I always had the dream to make money with paid traffic from obvious reasons- you don't have to wait months before you see the first buck coming in (I hate SEO even though it's what brings me my income) .
I have tried almost all the options available. I tried promoting cpa offers/cb products on adwords, adcenter, facebook ads , leadimpact, pof etc... but never had a profitable campaign.

I joined this forum to finally learn how to make money with paid traffic. This is my dream. I have a budget of around $1500 to make tests and everything. Now the only thing left is to decide which route I'm going to choose (ppc? cpv? mb?) and finally crack this code . Please help me with suggestions on how to start the right way . I can dedicate my whole time for this if it's necessary.
Goal: $150/a day. I know I can do it. I just need the right mindset .
Any help is appreciated.

Thank you!

I would start on POF with dating offers. There are some high value follow along campaigns in the forum.

Is the POF Dating offer niche saturated though? I feel like everyyoneee uses that medium for dating and nothing else.

Uh, dude, hate to break it to you, but it's a dating site. *DATING* site. 99% of the users there are looking for - get this - people to date. Dating offers will never be saturated at PoF.

the best way is to have some one give you one of their campaigns

[seriously, worked for me for FB] Thanks Jessica! :]

I would use Adcenter for paid search on Yahoo/Bing. They are easy to setup and as long as you use a landing page, you don't usually have issues with quality scores and all the things that make Google so hard to deal with.

I've found marketing to people who are actually looking for what you have is much easier when starting out than interruption marketing like FB, PPV, etc. You may still need a spin in order to get the high volume keywords for cheap. I almost always select all three match types (broad, phrase, exact) and don't be afraid to go after one word keywords. Since you are on a budget, I would start with slightly longer tail keywords but if you get them to work I would try and open it up some.

Adcenter seems to be a minimum of two hours behind on stats and it will always go over what your budget is by at least a few bucks. The real key to success is how well you can take an offer and twist it with your landing page into something that people are actively searching for and will actually do. This obviously coincides with keyword research. You don't want to twist in a direction that leads to extreme competition and high click prices.

I would do ppv, specifically branded email submits over their branded websites. Like popping a walmart gift card over the targets walmart and walmart.com.

You are working with a smaller payout and higher conversion rate so you can get stats faster and spend less money testing than anything else I can think of.

Check the justin bieber quiz ppv tutorial on this forum and try that too.

Do it on trafficvance if you can get accepted, and/or leadimpact. I often find one campaign will work on one source and not the other. And read all the ppv tips on here for extra help. Also try landing pages, not just direct linking.

@affgal : any good traffic source will be having a chance to get your campaigns into profitable level, you're jumping into too many traffic sources at one time, each one is different ballgame, earning $150/day is a nice goal, but for a starter like you in paid traffic, it is better to have your xxx profit/month, once you're in profit, go for the daily.

Always take baby step in your plan, review your plan, progress from there, understand how to track is a must in this business, a little php coding skill, photoshop, server skill help too. Once you have some success, leverage your own success, you can "scale" yourself, just like scaling an CPA offer.

profit = Revenue - CPC, knowing your CPC or CPM, help you to know your breakeven point and margin, number never lie.

I want to give POF a try again.... It's been a while since I tried their advertising platform so I don't really remember...How strict are they when it comes to uploading pictures of girls half-naked ? How far can I go with this without them disapproving my ads?

Thanks!

^^^ this is your problem.

Pick 1 traffic source and 1 vertical and keep going until you succeed.

Don't try anything. Commit and live through the growing pains.

In theory you can do well with anything on any traffic source. Its just a matter of time and commitment. Picking something more familiar will help you because there is so much help in the forum.

Dating on PoF will cost you quite a bit starting out unless you go international.

If you know another language, it would be wise to use that and target that specific country.

If you DO NOT know another language but know someone who does, use that to your advantage and have them translate some copy for you.

OR you can do what I do and target english speaking foreign countries as CPM's are much lower overall and conversion rates are great.

PM me for some tips if you go the dating route on POF.

09-11-2011 04:47 PM #18 z6marketing (Member)

PoF only has traffic in english-speaking countries (Ireland, UK, AU, CA, US, NZ) last I checked. No need to use foreign languages there.

Unless you segued into talking about FB ads and forgot to mention that, in that case yeah obviously go with the native language of the target area.

Also, you can easily do dating on pof on the cheap. I've done it dozens of times when showing other people how I set up campaigns.
