What To Use For Tracking Mobile Traffic?
Hey Guys,
I am trying to track my traffic from Jumptap using their variables through CPVLab.
I used the tracking method Liane shared with us on the webinar with the extra tokens. However when I ticked to pass the sub-id and tried the link I got redirected through to an error page with Neverblue. Then when I didn't select that option the link worked fine. So I just rolled with that way thinking it wouldn't make much of a difference.
However now after getting the traffic I have no stats at all in CPVlab
Can anyone help me with this or recommend a better way of tracking mobile traffic?

Did you test the link with the test link, or by copying & pasting the link into your browser?
This might be completely unrelated, but sometimes I've found that little things like accidentally leaving a space after the SID= (or whatever NVB calls it) in the offer link will cause failures like that.
Also found that for some aff networks the test link doesn't work, but when I copy & paste the link (the way I'd place it in the ad network) it's fine.
Mess around with it and see what you can figure out. You definitely need to pass the subid...

cpvlab and 202 cant redirect fast enough.....HO has a global network it runs off of.....plus a super optimized mongoDB that will toast any SQL based syetem...

I'll save you a lot of money...
Don't use any. Use your affiliate link from the network. You lose way too much traffic with redirects. Mobile traffic is not like web traffic. If you work with a network that uses HasOffers to track you will see the least amount of breakage.
P202 + mobile = disaster. I saw about 50 - 60% click discrepancy. Makes it very hard to optimize campaigns.

very much agreed deondup, dont use any think but the network affiliate link, or you could use has offers, but its ease of use is direct to aff. network

I use prosper202 to collect data. Then optimize campaign and replace link with direct.

hmmm if p202 & cpvlabs are too slow for mobile.
how are they fast enough for a high traffic cpv. such as www.google.com targetted ?!
and if HO can handle mobile. why are we not using that for affiliae tracking of campaigns?
yes, it cost but so does cpvlabs and so does p202 when you cant get help and losing money.
and dont get me wrong. I love both prgs initially but its like I loved my 10speed bike and then I had to bike on highways. it was sooooo much nicer when I got the turbo hummvee to drive the super-highway.
too much money is spent in IM on things that really will not make that much of difference compared to accurate and secure data. IMHO.

Maybe it has to do with the processing power of these mobile devices compared to normal PCs. It could take them longer to load the redirects regardless of how fast your server for 202 / CPVL is.

I think some of the factors that affect mobile and effectiveness in tracking include
1. Connection speed - mobile phone (unless it's wifi or 3/4G) are pretty slow.
2. Browser capabilities - e.g mobile safari is set by default to block 3rd party cookies. Not all browsers support javascript or meta refresh, if you are cloaking mobile with the current p202 you are going to lose a lot of your clicks.

I noticed about 60% lost with CPV Lab as well.... for now I just go direct and use NB's tracking. Ya I know they could see my stuff but my thought for now is "meh".

Speed is not the issue. WAP is the biggest issue - and the issue with this is the way the WAP browsers work

Hey Nana, any way for us to get access to 1.7 today? I'm running both cpvlab and p202 1.6 on my beyondhosting setup.

Thanks Nana, is there any summary of the changes or a changelog? I can't find it anywhere on google.
