Going at the Milfs again (22)

After taking a few weeks break with adult campaigns I'm back at it again. Yesterday was the first day I reactivated two offers I was already running in the past.

Ad network: Exoclick, Trafficjunky
Offer: Milfselfies, Milfaholic
Category: Dating
Payout: $1.75 through Smashrevenue
Geos: UK, CA, AUS, IRE, NZ

I was creating my "own" Tinder style banners (that means someone shared the idea and I changed them accordingly).

That's an example:


Landing page 1
Landing page 2

Yesterday's stats:
Exoclick expenses:
300x250: 3.72€
300x100: 10.78€

Trafficjunky:
300x250: $12.37

Revenue:
4 Conversions = $7

ROI (without currency conversion): -0.75

Ok, here are my thoughts:
I'm running only some premium spots at Exoclick, not RON. There'd be way more traffic available. Price is very good with around 3-5 €c CPC.
Trafficjunky is way higher. For some geos and placements I do not even try, especially AUS and UK with 0.4 $ CPMs.

CTRs are way better at Exo placements as on TJ. It's like 0.5% vs. 0.2%. Thus the higher prices of 9¢ CPC.

As the click prices seem not the be the problem and I do not want to run cheaper in sacrifice of traffic.

It looks like there's some sort of "drop off" between banner and lander/offer. That might explain the pretty low CRs.

To Dos:
I have a couple of ideas to improve banners and I will do this today. This should increase CTR but there's no way to turn it profitably just with that.

I need to improve landers/offers.

I already tried a Tinder style landing page with my last try where you could browse girls, select one and get directed to the offer. That was a decent failure. Either they did not click through the offer or did not convert there (any better than sending traffic directly). So this is no option for me.

Any thoughts appreciated.

NOT!
I sent pretty much the same traffic as the day before with same sources without any changes and conversions dropped to 0. Sorry, but I do not take that.
Maybe it's time to leave Smash. Their support is bad anyways. Sad to say that because it was my first adult network at all.

Does anybody have suggestions for good milf dating offers I can try?

Clickdealer is a reputable network with a good selection of adult dating offers.

People who use Tinder are a younger demographic, so I would definetely split-test different angles with the milf niche. Still make banners using social icons since it works, but don't mimic Tinder too much. Try some banners with fuck-or-not buttons.

I also tried a landing page which was meant to be like an app, you could browse girls, fake chat to them, etc, and the shit bombed. KISS.

I'm new to Oasis and just noticed they even have both offers also for Web (Smash only has mobile).

Anyways, what jack said got me thinking. I did not look into the demographic of Tinder users very carefully as even older friends of mine are using it (even in Germany where we lag 2 years behind usually). This might explain the banner to conversion drop off. However, I'm not sure how much Tinder is even "in there". I mean, the creatives are basically just showing available milfs you can contact or not.

Your banner CTR is good, some more splittest ideas to help improve:

Before/after photos
Milf vs Teen
Blonde vs Brunette vs Red Head
Snapchat vs Tinder
Animated vs Static

Whats up with the landers though? Did you only test the tinder themed one? What the CTR? etc

Have a look at the competition, many people running this? Also your going to have a tough time in english speaking geo unless you understand your traffic sources well.

I just know that these are the top offers at Smash but that does not say much. I never found it in the spy tools I tested so I really doubt that

I only tested these two offers with the default lander each (see links in opening post). Creating different landers does not work with Smash for whatever reason (they all look the same).

What do you mean by "before/after photos"? Before and after the date?
What is the reason you are listing milf vs teen as testing opportunity? I mean, the offer is clearly milf, why should I consider teens on banners (even though this might increase CTR)?

If I understand you correctly, I think you're sending people straight to the offer after they click your banner which is a big no no, especially in adult.

Why is that a big no-go for you?
I grew up in other affiliate niches and it was always a trade-off: Either higher conversion rates through a pre-lander but losing clicks through it or sending it right through and having lower conversion rates but maximum of clicks.
Where would you send traffic to? What would be the purpose in this case?

It's widely accepted that pre-selling with a landing page will most often generate better results, and Adult is an vertical where landing pages are very advanced, especially in psychology with things like "rules"

Don't take my word for it, go browse some porn websites, click on the banners and see what your competitors are doing.

Gotcha. I still like to let the numbers speak and don't follow conventional wisdom. That does not mean you're wrong of course. It was just too convenient for me with direct linking instead of doing proper testing. After the first failure I realize that the banner-offer drop off does not make a profitable campaign possible. I think 5¢ clicks are good for these geos but that doesn't help when the CR sucks.

Anyways, I have started new campaigns with some adjustments:

Banner: I am testing the banner with highest CTR heavier and added country logo next to the girls picture. So I split the campaign into several smaller ones for each country.

Offer: I switched to Local Milf Selfies through Oasis. Payout is higher with 2.25.
I also try Milfaholic as desktop offer with 3.75 payout.

Landing Page: I was listening to my AM Darren and stick to the highest converting landers.

Presale page: Instead of directly linking to the offer landing page I created a simple presale page that is commonly used as I see it often through various spy tools. Asking for age, if they want big or small breasts, that they can only join for the next xy min. etc. Presale page works both with desktop and mobile.

First day running with my presale page and it's been a decent failure. My EPC for the desktop offer was 0.13 yesterday. But having to pay like 0.05/click and losing traffic through the presale page it's tough to break even. I'd need like 90% CTR from presale to offer page and this looks far away from being realistic.

What is your CTR with the presale page?

For the desktop version it was about 17%.

Cool, 30-40% CTR is easily doable in desktop adult, I would add another 1-2 landers which are different and reach 30%.

I don't understand why you think you need 90% ctr to breakeven.

Take your desktop campaign for example:

$3.75 payout / $0.05 clicks means you need 1 in every 75 banner clicks to convert to break even.

if 30% of those 75 click through from your landing page to your offer. Then thats 22 people at the offer page, and you only need 1 to convert.

I've not done the math properly and just made assumptions based on the 0.07 and 0.13 EPC with mobile and desktop.
I did not reach statistical significance yet. Will add some alternative presale pages into the mix and see how it's going.

From what I am seeing, you are not spending enough to make any data driven decision. I see that you are also choosing two placements. Pick one placement with a good amount of volume and go from there. How many banners/landers/offers are you running? Also, do not worry too much about CTRs. Focus on conversions first and focus on what is working and get rid of what isn't. At the moment, spending 12.37 is not even close to getting significant data to make decisions. Hope this helps. When it comes to dating offers most people use prelanding pages before the offer. It takes some testing to get a good funnel created. The right Banner --> Prelander --> Offer. I'll spend at least $50-$200 per campaign before I learn enough to optimize. Check out milfbangbook from RevolutionForce if you need another milf offer to promote.
