Banned from Facebook, Now What?

So yesterday I was banned from Facebook. I wasn't making bank or anything but I was profitable and it was a great start for me. Any suggestions on what I should do next? Should I go through the trouble of trying to get another advertising account? Should I move on to PPV? I've got some stuff going on PoF but nothing to write home about. Really interested to hear what some of you would do if you were in my shoes, open to suggestions + ideas. Thanks guys!

Well, in a follow up to my ban this morning - I've sent them a creeping letter politely asking why I've been banned. i explained that the majority of my companies work was for dating advertisers, but was always very stringent about keeping images above board, that we never dealt with any site that could be considered 'adult' and certainly did not use any of the 'shady' tactics we are aware go on - (actually, this is pretty much true) -

I did explain that we were currently in negotiations to assist a couple of local businesses with creating a Facebook presence and this obviously had halted all our plans to grow our business in other directions away from the dating niche.

Of course, finding an email address to send it to was a pain in the ass - but sent it off, and just awaiting to see what they say.

I'm really not interested in building a business that requires me to keep ducking and diving to avoid bans, and changing accounts and credit cards all the time, so try to keep most of my affiliate stuff as 'clean and wholesome' as possible...lol

Your both in a position many are/were. Dealing with Facebook has tons of issues, even I've started to part ways (but not completely!) with Facebook and i've done tons of volume with them from day 1. Their system is a love hate thing, and a ton of people including myself dealt with similar issues back when adwords was the main traffic source for affiliates. You'll have problems no matter what, but the more whitehat you stay the less problems you will have. It may be worth trying to work with other traffic source along with Facebook if you have the time/funds.

I'm personally moving to media buys and smaller less known traffic sources (i really wanted to go to adtech london for this reason) and building my own smaller product sites. It's hard work moving traffic source, ive got a couple small campaigns on 2 different small traffic sources and these places have VERY limited optimizing capabilities, but thats what you have to settle with instead of Facebook (for now).

The one thing I hate about moving away from FB is their targeting aspects. It's just so golden. With tons of dating offers wanting specific ages and sexes, it's damn near impossible to get those exact demos.

Make / buy another account or preferably, 10 of them.

Carpet bomb them.

Having been banned a few times at various places all I can say is its a rite of passage.......always have multiple choices for traffic....and never rely on one to much and always have a plan b....

Don't worry about getting banned by facebook, there is plenty more traffic sources out there that want your dollar. Life goes on just keep on hacking away at new traffic sources and you'll be balling like never before.

*Been banned by FB 4 times already.

Facebook is on a witch hunt at the moment. It happens every now and again when they try and clean things up. Its no wonder - the amount of cloaked rebills and Bizz opps I see on my own account is quite shocking. Unfortunately it spoils the party for all affiliates.

After losing 3 very good accounts in the last 2 weeks I've decided to lay low and wait it out. This happened in late 2009 for those who can remember that.

Facebook somehow gets hold of all your information in the name of credit card fraud and I have reason to believe that they get ISP data to track you down.

Great opportunity to finally explore some new traffic sources

I've been looking to branch out from facebook too. Just seems like there is too much heat on it at the moment and I don't want any lawyers knocking on my door. Such a shame because once you figure out facebook it's pretty easy to make some money. But hey, isn't that the truth for all traffic sources - you figure one out then you're bawlin.

facebook, Google it's all the same thing really. NEVER put too much faith in one platform, because if that platform becomes closed to you for some reason .....

Also, if facebook is so 'golden' due to the targetting and sheer volume WTF abuse it with grey/black hat tactics.? It's greed of course. The downfall of many of us (myself included).
