Hi Fellow Stackers.
here is a very interesting article with the CEO's of Perion and Crossrider talking about the new iOS-9 ads blockers.
Digital advertising company CEO's of Crossrider and Perion claimed that Apple's decision to allow the mobile ad blocking will not have real impact and estimated that Facebook will not rush to bring app advertising into Whatsapp
"every number I'll "throw" on the extent of the global advertising market will probably be correct in Mobile and you can not refute it. Speaking on this market turnover of 120 billion dollars a year today, and reaching $ 200 billion in -2018. Even if there is an error of a few billion one way or another, it's still a lot. "said Kobi Menahemi, CEO of digital advertising at Crossrider.
Menahemi participated in a conversation on the mobile advertising trends with Perion CEO (Perion) Josef Mandelbaum. According to Mandelbaum, "We are witness today the connection to unite the world of mobile and social networking sphere, where today over 70% of the traffic comes from Twitter or Facebook through mobile. It is something, of course, that appeal to advertisers. "
Mandelbaum and Nehemiah took Apple's decision to allow the mobile ad blocking in its new operating system for mobile devices, the IOS9. They argue both that the decision to have no real impact on the advertising market. but it will hurt only the content providers and site operators rather than advertisers," said Mandelbaum. "Apple has done many things for the benefit of the user, but it should also consider the environment. You can not block advertisements - someone does have to pay for the site, there is no free lunches, and I do not believe it will have an effect."
According to Nehemiah "Ad blockers" advertisements affect not more than 5% of the business, as they do not interfere with advertisements within the app, through which the majority of content consumption is done. There are already sites like the Washington Post that wont let you log in while using ad blocking, and it can expand. another possibility is that advertising will become indiscriminate latent content ".
Menahemi claimed that "Apple is trying to show she cares for her users even with "lip service". In the end I believe it is good news to the advertising industry as the ads will have to be better. There is no chance that the publication/advertising will be gone. It's not likely that the users will start paying for content."
Another question that Both CEO's related to was - is whether Facebook will place ads in Whatsapp to repay the investment of billions of dollars in purchasing the app. "I do not think it will place ads, as normal. It will not be an ad that appear in the corner of the conversation . What can happen is if you talk with a friend about ordering sushi, then there will be some kind of "smart agent" that will send you a link to a Japanese restaurant. Even applications in Apple Clock or Google glasses I believe we will see clever commercials/ads that you will bring to you. "
According to Mandelbaum, "Facebook has decided to place advertisements on Instagram, which is today the fastest growing advertising platform in the world. The platform is rapidly growing, since advertising on Instagram gives the user a good experience. That is why people see the Super Bowl commercials. You can do advertising that gives creative experience to the user. Still, I do not believe Facebook will place ads on Whatsapp which was acquired as a defensive action, at least as long as the company's growth remains high. only when the growth rate will slow down , the pressure on Facebook will start to make money from Whatsapp ".
