CDN with Firewall? (6)

CDN with Firewall?

I am looking for a CDN / cloud-based service that has a firewall sat in front of it that allows you to import lists of IP addresses/ranges to block.

I have some high volume campaigns that are receiving a lot of bot traffic which I need to block at the firewall level (I tried blocking them with a cloaker/Thrive bot module etc) but the server load was just too heavy with over 35,000 IPs to be checked each time and with a high volume.

So ideally what I need is a CDN with multiple global locations that has a configurable firewall sat in front of it that I can import lists of IPs into. I have found a couple of CDN services (Rackspace for example) that do this in theory but they don't allow you to import a CSV/TXT file of IP addresses (I don't feel like entering 35,000 of them manually!)

Does anyone happen to know a service that does this?

Thanks a lot guys!

have you tried CloudFlare? They offer a Firewall/DDoS Protection + CDN.

They do offer this but there is a limit on the number of IPs to 1000 and I have over 35000.

They also don't allow you to import a list of IPs with CSV/TXT so they would have to be entered manually line by line.

Why not contact Rackspace or similar CDNs directly to ask?

Tell them straight that you are looking to port some business to a CDN provider and have issues with some fraudulent traffic from bots that needs to be blocked at the IP level by a firewall, and whether it would be possible to have their tech support import this list for you directly.

I've never heard of a CDN provider that gives you custom ACLs... it would be really hard to implement something at that level for each customer.

i think cloudflare does what you need... and its simple to set up. they have something to block the bots, you might want to write in to them to find out?
