How do you test banners on CPC NATIVE traffic sources?

Hey Everyone,

I'm interested to learn your advice on how you test banners on native traffic sources. I realize strategies may differ for each traffic source, but I'm more so interested in general best practices. e.g. What's the max you should spend on each banner? How many impressions should you give each banner?

Below is what I currently do.

I like to give each banner between 75K - 95K impressions and cut if the CTR is less than .15%. My budget is 20% of the payout. If the banner converts, I cut if the ROI is >= -50%.

On Content.Ad, one of their reps recommended to me to test 6 banners in a campaign for 24-48 hours. Continue running the performers, pause the low CTR banners, add new ones, and repeat. He mentioned to me that the average Advertorial banner CTR is about .08%, with a high side of about .16%, but I've spoke with affiliates that have got .40% and above.

Any insight from your experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I've just started in Content.Ad, and my banner CTR is hovering between 0.03 to 0.08% (for impression more than 100k).
Would love to hear more from the experienced guys on how to increase the CTR for advertorial banner as well.

Thoughts:
My understanding from previous experience back in POF is image>>headlines.
So i assume it's easier to start with eye-catching image first, before moving to multivariate the headlines?
