Here are a few traffic sources for comparison. some of them are pretty obvious, high volumes, good traffic, good targeting. but there are some smaller ones which i just cant figure out??? could anyone shed some light?
exoclick - operates like a business regardless of how much you spend, charges premium, good targeting, fast response, good volume. makes sense why someone want to be here if they want to do alot of testing
reporo - difficult to use, but cheap and good quality traffic and large volumes. makes sense too, not easy to use, but in return its cheap.
what about about the rest???
trafficjunky - i see alot of people using this, but their prices are not exactly cheap? and their compliance is pretty strict too. why do we need to comply? what advantages does trafficjunky offer over exoclick or reporo?
adamoads - high price, low quality traffic, not easy to use platform. i wonder why anyone uses this? i mean they won some awards, so it means someone must be running here.
trafficforce - so little traffic, and they have strict compliance. some traffic is cheaper, but it does not seem to make up for the compliance and low volumes?
what is the value of using these smaller traffic sources? who is it suited to? why would the smaller traffic source be better than exoclick/reporo?
It really depends on your vertical. But what you've said above makes a lot of sense. I'd add that I think Reporo is really hit or miss depending on the GEOs and they can mix in a lot of crap when you buy on them. I think most of the "smaller" sources are tailored more to work for affiliates who run in the tier 1 GEOs b/c they really make no sense in terms of volume outside the major GEOs.
A few years ago some of these sources were much better...TJ for example used to convert brilliantly with huge volume and offer great value in many geos. Now...the platform is still slow and clunky. The traffic quality and CTRs have taken a tremendous dip - it still converts, but no one can argue against how much better it was back in 2012-2013. The prices have dropped a bit but this is more reflective on their current traffic quality relative to the past.
I wouldn't focus too much on these awards, I think they're a big circle-jerk among insiders (or networks that think the only way for more business is to focus on winning them) and hold little weight on what networks really bring the best quality.
Back in the day some of these smaller networks were hidden gems...AdBucks used to do the Redtube towers before TJ acquired them and they would convert great with very little competition. I'm sure some of these still exist but they are really diamonds in the rough.
I think, as has been suggested, there was a time 2 or 3 years ago where running on small lesser known sources could pay off in terms of finding undervalued traffic, or unsold inventory.
The trouble is...
Those smaller sources are no longer 'hidden gems'.
They are what they are: smaller sources.
Smaller sources faced with high levels of competition from countless mentions on forums, in books, and blog posts.
Any advantage to be had disappeared when the majority of adult marketers heard about them. At that point, their smaller natures become a disadvantage because the prices will rise faster with demand.
In order to be successful in 2015, the funnel comes first.
You need a great offer, a great lander, and some very effective ads.
If you nail this combination well, then you can scale across pretty much any of the adult sources and see success.
But if you don't have those assets... then simply running on a smaller source will not save you.

We're always looking for feedback on Adnium.com; we'll be adding a few million/day mobile header, tier one impressions this coming week (300x100). Targeting options include GEO, day-part, key-word, device, among many others. Being a CPMv network, your ads have to be loaded and in the user's view-port to count an impression. Our API is also available for programmatic buying!
Have a great start to your work week,
Thank you for the update!Anyone knows where i can buy mobile pops traffic for $0.5CPM? It's ok if it's remnant traffic aswell.
Depends on the country. In the tier 1 markets, the short answer is nowhere (unless its really crap traffic) but in tier 2/3 markets I would check out either WigetMedia or WWWpromoter.
Hit me up on skype if you want me to intro you to the respective AMs at these companies
we have huge pop inventory worldwide. we might provide remnant traffic as well.
