Need help understanding a few things
Hi,
I have been reading almost all the posts on this forum in the last 24 hours.. its quite amazing
I actually come from the SERP arbitrage world (PPC -> to more PPC ads haha) i did it for few years and it was very successful.
In the last few month i moved to affiliate marketing with Desktop PPV/Pops and its working quite good but i still think i need your help to understanding a few things:
1) Do you open most of your campaigns on RON or Targeted URL/Keywords Or Verticals? Most of the offers i am running are very generic so they should work on almost all verticals.
2) What are you doing with traffic source like 50Onred that has 100K+ Subids? if i check each one of them it will take A LOT of $$$$$$ until i fully optimize the campaign.
3) In banners/Display you also target the campaigns the same way you do with PPV?
4) Do you think Landers is the key to make profitable campaigns? until now i never tried to run offers with landers and it still work.
5) Which offers you usually run on Desktop PPV? Downloads/antivirus/streaming/sweepstakes?
6) Usually how much money do you spend before reaching to break even?
Thanks a lot

I'll take a stab at these!
1)Targeted URL/keywords will seriously limit pop traffic volume, so generic offers on RON should work the best.
2)I don't have experience with 50onred - will someone who does please answer this question? I believe that targetting by URL/keywords would be the better approach on "traditional" PPV networks like this one.
3)I'm assuming you're referring to mobile banner/display traffic? Targeting options are similar yes, except mobile display networks will typically have more options for OS, devices, carriers, WIFI/carrier... Also, with mobile display you can target apps in addition to sites, whereas AFAIK mobile pop will only come from sites and not apps.
4)If you're able to profit by direct-linking alone, then my hat's off to you! I only know of a couple of offers that convert so well that you don't need a lander to run it.
5)Do some spying (by manually browsing to sites or using spy tools/services) and you'll know which verticals and offers are being promoted the most, and what types of creatives are being used most often. But yes - all the ones you listed can do well on pop traffic (of course there will always be good and bad offers in those verticals).
6)I don't think anyone can answer that question, because the answer will depend on so many factors. Are you trying to decide when to ditch a campaign? If so, please provide more details.
