How can web developers help in marketing?

Hi,I'm new without any experience in sales/marketing.
I would like to get examples about how web developers can improve marketing.
Thank you very much,kind regards.

Hi there. There are plenty of web developers who just develop what their boss asks them to do. And then there are those who actually think about the business impact of their work.

This is similar in design. There are many designers who are focused primarily on whether their work looks pretty or not. And then there are those who focus more on whether their work converts or not.

They can help many ways :
- from an SEO perspective : not building "shiny stuff" but "bots friendly stuff"... it helps marketers if their sites gets found for free and crappy markup doesn't help
- from a performance perspective : not using crappy technology, not using a gazillion CSS and JS files, etc... it helps marketers if site loads fast
- from an ergonomic POV : not building unusable stuff, every now and then I found a major company launch a new website, barely usable

But as cmdeal said it's a pity but most web developers are just hired as "code monkeys", some just deserve it as they can only work "on specs", some should be given a role of "project management" and take over most of the technical stuff but some boss hesitate giving such position to "the coding guy"...

Hi Guys, we don't have monkey programmers!, we did at the starting, until they proved themselves, now they manage their own projects, and they really improved and continue improving our applications. But just like me they lack of marketing background. I will start by forwarding Wiifmduded's answer, any additional suggestion which comes to your mind will be appreciated.
Thank you very much!

On top of what cmdeal and wiifmdude wrote (and I agree completely), using good UI/UX design. there is a lot of information reagarding this.

You/they can start here:
http://www.usability.gov/what-and-wh...ce-design.html
http://www.fastcodesign.com/3032719/...-tech-industry

But as I said, plenty of info can be found on the subject.
