bad placements consistency?

So when a placement is bad, does that mean it's usually bad:
1.) for other countries as well
2.) other spots on the same site will also be bad

Hello,
In my experience 1) is usually true but not always. You need to test it, especially when the site gets good traffic - you might not be able to make it work in for example US but some smaller demos will work.

2) Again you need to test it. Footer vs. NTVA can be huge difference, usually you will lose money on footer placements but you can make NTVs work for sure.

So yea, as with nearly everything in AM the answer is to test it ;-)

I have also found that some sites underperform in all of the countries I tried

It all depends on what type of traffic the site has.

If its SE traffic and bookmarks, which is considered good traffic, its quite normal to see one geo work better than others, but all spots should be good to some extent.

If its a site based on traffic trades or bought traffic, its a hit or miss most of the time. If they buy feeder traffic from some shitty source and trade with similar sites, the traffic will suck, but maybe some GEO or spot will be worth it.

Also the GEO breakdown will be skewed a lot in favor of the feeder traffic GEO, which is usually turkey, india, pakistan etc ... so not exactly quality shit so to speak

if you are sure the traffic is legit and not a bot or fraudulent source, then its probably just the wrong campaign you are running, its hard to give a general one-size-fits-all answer to such a broad and open question

you need to understand the nature of traffic.

1. if its clearly 100% bot traffic then of course there is no hope in anyway just cut it.
2. if its part bot traffic, then maybe u have a way to filter it out?
3. if its converting traffic but not performing well, then you need to figure out the problem? maybe it's the site spamming your ads? maybe its low quality traffic? maybe your product is not relevant to the crowd?

and also for xhamster(MOBILE), its about the geo, and also about its spot. for some reason the 300x250 does not have consistent performance compared to the 300x100. 300x250 could have more than 1 spot on the same site, maybe because its not mobile optimized, but 300x100 usually only has one spot and its performance is more consistent.
