Facebook Dislike Button. Game change?

Hi guys,

http://www.vox.com/2015/9/15/9333671...dislike-button

Will this be a game changer or not?

I have just been reading up on this, Mark even refences people disliking adds in their news feeds, surely they will link this in to the management in the same way you get an account banned for getting too many complaints on a email list?

Depends. Stuff like misleading Sweeps yeah, but gaming & flogs should be fine

I wouldn't count that this will be bad for advertisers,
first because advertisers are what makes FB earn that much money and second you have this button on You tube for a long time now and most of the videos i have seen have high numbers of Likes than dislikes.
its just another button / feature for the users to stay for a bit longer on FB and interact.

any idea when this dislike button will go live?

Its not for downvoting or disliking content as far as I see. So i do not think its whole purpose is to report ads/contents.

But don't expect the "dislike" button to work like the downvote button on sites such as Reddit. On Reddit, the upvote and downvote buttons are opposites: Upvoting gives the post more attention, while downvoting can consign it to oblivion.
By contrast, Facebook won't treat a "dislike" as a vote to stop showing the post to other users. Rather, it provides a better option in cases where friends and family paste bad news, like a death in the family or a natural disaster. "What they really want is the ability to express empathy," wrote Business Insider. "Not every moment is a good moment."

Thanks

They are in the process of *thinking about* testing things. I'll let you know if I see it as they will likely test it in New Zealand.

I have a feeling this may not be well-received and may end up being removed in the format we are envisioning. My money is on them completely changing the name from "dislike" which has negative connotations and will undoubtedly get used as an antagonistic action.
