Banner and lander help

Hey all,

Running a test campaign for a mobile gaming app and coming across a stumbling block or two, wondering if anybody can chime in with a some advice.

1.The main problem I'm having is how to maximise the impact of a banner add. I'd like to run about 10 different angles using banner adds but I'm not sure if this is the way to go? The obvious approach is to highlight different aspects of the game in each variation of the banner add but I feel like I need to work on a more psychological level than this. The problem that jumps out at me is how to actually achieve this with the limited space of a banner add? I've read Caurmans guide on 21 ways to make angles for adverts and find myself struggling to incoroprate a lot of these techniques due to the limits of a small banner.

2. I've gathered that the general approach to this is 10 banners adds and 1 landing page for testing purposes and I'm wanting to clarify exactly how this is usually done. Do you guys prefer to have all 10 banners going to the same landing page or is it worth testing some banners direct to source i.e. linking directly to the download page for the app?

I feel like mobile gaming apps, especially free ones, would be better linked direct to source. Please advise.

I've been searching through the forums for a while and can't find anything so turned here for help, sorry if I've overlooked some obvious advice!
