Offer: Win an iPhone 6S
Geo: France
Payout: $0.75
I'm brainstorming for angles now and came up with a few. Will these work?
Is it even necessary to create such angles for a sweepstake offer?
Please give me your honest feedback!
Once I decide on the angle, I'll keep this thread updated!
Luck
"Get lucky and own an iPhone"
Be the first
"Be the first to own the iPhone 6S Rose Gold in France!"
News headline style
"Consumers swarm new website to get free iPhones!"
Personal finance
"Sick of zero deposit rates? Earn cash and prizes by doing a short survey!"
Quiz style
"Are you smarter than a 5th grader? Prove it and stand a chance to win prizes!"
Focus on the iPhone
"The most advanced phone in history. Get it now for free."
Sports
"Who is better? Federer or Nadal. Submit your answer and stand a chance to win prizes!"
Simple answer is to test.
I do hope these headlines will be translated to french.
Based on experience...
I would test every angle except for "Personal finance -"Sick of zero deposit rates? Earn cash and prizes by doing a short survey!"" it's not simple enough for such a low payout offer.
Also skip this one Focus on the iPhone -"The most advanced phone in history. Get it now for free." Just remember you are running mobile pops, aka interruption marketing.
I'd test out the angles MrGreen is suggesting, they seem good.
Apart from the angle, of major importance is also the traffic source you'll run on. I'd suggest FB or GDN.
Good luck and keep us updated on the numbers you are making!
Offer: Win an iPhone 6S
Geo: France
Payout: $0.75
Affiliate network: Clickdealer
Why I chose this offer:
1) Low payout = cheaper to get data
2) Non-english geography = less competition
3) Sweeps = easier to get conversions
Process:
1) Used MAS to spy on some offers
2) Got inspiration from some landing pages
3) Selected 3 landing pages and changed it slightly (wording, updated certain prices, names on testimonials etc)
4) Got approval from AM
5) Translated everything to french on Fiverr and Google Translate.
6) Used Rackspace to upload the landing pages
7) Set up tracking with
Tracker:
Set up 3 landing pages to rotate evenly.
Traffic source: Pop Ads
CPM: $5
Max bid: $0.01
Daily budget: $5
Campaign budget: $10
Type: Popups
Bid position: 6th-8th? (can't remember exactly)
Pretty much selected the default for everything except:
Excluded the blacklisted websites found here: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...pads+blacklist
Excluded the children categories
Action:
Need to get a better grasp of tracking and how the different tokens work. Still not familiar with the concept! Managed to set it up correctly with help of AM.
Please feel free to comment / criticise / suggest improvements while I wait for the data to roll in!
That daily budget on a highly volume/ high competition GEO like FR won't give you any decent results. More likely than not your budget will get eaten in minutes by a few poor placements. I'd increase your budget to at least $50/day.
Yup you are right! Budget got eaten up really quick.
47 clicks with 0 conversions.
Gotta spend more!
Any tips on how I should use the data i have collected to spend more efficiently? Or are these stats too little to tell?
Cut placements that performed poorly, I doubt you have statistical significance though.
Day 1:
47 clicks
0 conversions
$10 spent
Budget was gone in a few minutes
Day 2:
Decided to lower the max bid by half. (from 0.01 to 0.005)
Cleaned up some grammatical errors on my landing pages.
33 clicks
2 conversions
$5 spent
$1.50 profits
ROI: - 30%
Finally got the first conversions of my AM career!!! Woohooo!! Never been so happy over $1.50!
Both conversions came from the same landing page but I prob need more data to confirm this as the winner.
Day 3:
50 clicks
3 conversions
$10 spent
Dayummm....
So after 3 days:
140 clicks
5 conversions
USD25 spent
Performance of 3 landers:
LP1: 45 clicks / 3 conversions
LP2: 45 clicks / 2 conversions
LP3: 50 clicks / 0 conversions
Is this sufficient data to cut LP3 and start cutting placements?
You've got about 80% confidence that lp1 is better than lp3. It's up to you to decide how much confidence you want before cutting. Search Google for split test calculators to do the calculation yourself. Check out vortex's post on how to cut landers and placements.
Thanks for the comment SSmarketer! But does this data mean this offer has some potential ? Thanks!
Quick update:
1) Cut traffic from places that wasn't working. E.g some carriers, browser versions that were delivering zero conversions after 1000+ impressions.
Here are my stats
Landing page 1
Impressions: 2458
Clicks: 250
Conversions: 3
Landing page 2
Impressions: 2453
Clicks: 243
Conversions: 2
Comments:
My CTR of ~10% seems decent. However, my conversion rate of 0.1% is really low so i think there might be a problem with the offer.
Action:
1) Split test offer - find a similar offer from same network or same offer from different network.
2) Split test landing page - will change it up, maybe add some copy to persuade people to follow through and submit their details.
3) Do more spying and see if there's a different angle for this offer.
Question:
1) Are my above actions correct? I want to be sure my process is right.
2) What could be the reason for such low conversion rates?
3) Any other ways I can increase the conversion rate for a sweeps offer?
The experts could chime in on this... but I think it's because you're changing your landing pages before you know whether or not they work.
Here's my suggestion:
Scrape ten landing pages word for word. Change nothing about it(of course change the aff links and other links) so now you can see what type of LPs convert well, once you see which LP is good you can change some things around.
Hi Ryan and Simon, thanks for your comments! still working on this and will update you guys!!
Coconut - For what you're running, I would consider trying Popcash first, instead of Popads. Depending on what you can afford to bid, you could run in to a volume issue on Popads. Popcash is usually cheaper, and from my experience, it performs just as well.
Email contact@popcash.net and ask for the mobile inventory stats for France. That should give you a good insight on what could happen. Hope that helps!
Hi Bambam! Thanks for the tip!!! Appreciate it and I'll give popcash a shot!
Hi everyone,
Changes since my last update:
Added an offer from F5 to split test. Both this new offer and the original offer performs the same, but the F5 offer pays out more so I will be running this.
Got more data to see which hours of the day are profitable.
Tested 2 additional landers, one bombed while the other is giving me significantly higher conversion rate.
Spent $140 on Popads so far.
My latest statistics, using my best performing lander:
Impressions: 6593
Clicks: 198
Conversions: 18
ROI: -60%
Thoughts:
While its still negative ROI, i'm encouraged by the high conversions to clicks ratio of my new lander.
However, my CTR of about 3% seems very low. I think this is due to the traffic source being over-saturated, which is why people are not clicking?
Action:
Take my best offer, best lander and best timings of the day and test it on other traffic sources.
Popcash, Adcash and Propeller Ads
I'm hoping this will increase my CTR -> higher number of conversions!
More than happy to hear any comments / feedback / criticism!
Just wanted to check back in and see where you at since 10/4 on this campaign. Did you have a chance to port over to Popcash, Adcash, etc.? How were those results? 3% CTR from lander does seem low, but keep in mind if you're running pops your CTR's will naturally be lower in comparison to running banner > presell page for example as you're see all impressions to your lander vs. a lower (and more interested/engaged) percentage of users who previously clicked through from the banner ad (i.e., when running banners on display/mobile, etc.). So if you're looking for 10-15% landing page CTR, it could be tough on pops. I still feel there is room for improvement though from 3%
Hi Coconut...
1. http://www.webpagetest.org/ for speed testing
https://gtmetrix.com/ and https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ for speed testing and see your faults in the LP
2. Cant tell you much about it as i am new like you... would like to hear more about this also
3. I use Beyond hosting VPS and clourflare free cdn... Works fine for me... tested it and called cloudflare and they told me that if you run something long enough in 1 country the CDN Server get placed there... There are things with cache that can be important and the free version doesnt have that but the most people that come on your page are there only 1 time.
