I want get started with Outbrain, however, their guidelines are much stricter compared to other content networks such as taboola.
I submitted an advertorial (just text with a link to the offer, no navbar or sidebar) but it got denied with following explanation:
- “Shell” sites that employ deceptive editorial practices to redirect users to a parent site
Does anyone here have experience with making shell sites that get approved by outbrain?
Obviously I could put in more effort and make it look like a legit blog or news site by adding a navbar and articles, but will they be ok with the link to the offer page (its a clean offer, no adult or gambling)?
If you eventually lead clicks out to a rebill type product they won't approve it. You can have links in the sidebars ec. but if the purpose of your article is to get the click on to the real product page then you will always struggle with them.
Cloaking anyone?
They promote a ton of fake things on their network. So I'm surprised you got denied.
Agreed with beastmode! I saw tons of fake ads on their network.
