OK... so I've been on STM for this year and decided to take the full time plunge and have been mostly successful with my journey so far... I haven't hit the coveted 1k days yet but have made, at best on FB, mid xxx days (white hat).
Everything was going well, until 6 weeks ago when all my campaigns died and got paused at once and I have struggled since to get something going. Funds have been going down and its been the toughest month i've probably ever had in AM to date. Murphies law of course when you are just trying to settle into your full time AM career.
(insert STRESS and contemplations of going back to geology and working in mines)
Until this...
Yes that is right, I'm on the ropes with AM atm and I STILL need a campaign. So let me introduce you to this weird son of a bitch campaign...
I made this meme to sum up my first world problem...

First... Some assumptions...
Lets assume I have my landing page worked out etc etc. I want to keep this thread pretty focused on the main issue at hand... DATA, SCALING & SYSTEMS.
Here are my statistics from

(the ROI picture is only reflective of Zeropark so far, the other traffic sources have similar ROI, most of them better!!)
Zeropark (where the main part of the spending has come from) has over 300 pages of available placements.
I've taken this to other traffic sources and I have the same problem... My data is spread out everywhere. I get no grouping of data to get any statistical significance from. Across the other traffic networks the best I have been able to achieve is 3 max conversions on a placement. Everything else is spread across everywhere (obviously I'm running RON).
Payout = ~$5
Traffic Source: Pops.
So lets point out the obvious....
- I need more data and simply need to spend more.
- Other traffic sources are showing the same grouping of data +ROI so obviously this campaign has potential.
The key questions I have then is HOW... i.e What are some possible methods of getting further data and scaling this campaign in the most efficient way? Keyword here is efficiency... Obviously I could just spend stacks of cash and get stacks of data but I am also aware of the associated risks of the offer going down or my lead quality being crap and being booted from the offer. I'm aware that the data I need to get is going to be expensive, but I'm not a super affiliate and if I screw up this scaling process it could be quite hard to recover financially due to my lack of campaigns in the last 6 weeks...
Now that I am happy with my lander combo (again, please assume this variable is totally optimised) So...
Do I concentrate on one traffic source? Or multiple? If I focus on multiple.... What sort of budget do I need?
One strategy suggested by my friend Tom (who is about to release the best spying tool EVER) (Make Massive) is to target some of the best placements (that have already had a conversion obviously) that appear to have the most volume etc and start a sub campaign to get statistically significant data on them individually from the RON. Sort of like a midway point between RON and WHITELIST. Thoughts?
What sort of budget do you think I will need to get significant levels of data? I'm in sort of new territory here (if you can't tell) coming from FB...
Hopefully this will be my first 1k per day profit campaign... If it is... There will be plenty of rounds shouted by me at Affiliate World Asia.
If not... well... Back to the mines I could be heading... *kill me now*
Thanks!
For pop traffic sources with huge volume try adcash, gunggo and propeller ads.
You will have all the volume you require to acquire data to optimize.
In terms of budget, you generally need 20 or so conversions to start seeing some semblance of statistical significance.
So however much traffic you need to buy to get 20 conversions is a good starting point for your potential budget to allocate.
I would look for placements that have the narrowest normal curve. Those ones are more likely to be predictable and therefore, easier for you to safely increase the bids for those individual placements within zeropark on a per-target basis.
DUDE! those ROI's are out of this world!
"is to target some of the best placements (that have already had a conversion obviously) that appear to have the most volume etc and start a sub campaign to get statistically significant data on them individually from the RON"
100% Take the ID's that are doing the best for you with the highest volume and make campaigns whitelisting only those.
