I don't have a credit card at the moment and I'd like to get one soon. However, European credit cards are really stingy with their rewards, whereas American credit cards have amazing rewards and point systems. Is it possible to get an American card (with the American reward system obviously) as a European? Would I need a US bank account then as well?
I hear all these stories about affiliates using their credit cards for ad spend and racking up a huge amount of points on them. Since I plan on travelling a lot I think it would be worth it to get a lot of miles/points to save on air fare and to get some sweet upgrades.
Any info would be appreciated!

I'm with AmericanExpress too and collect quite a bit of points plus the usual shit included with the card like prioritypass etc... Must admit I never really checked for US based creditcards, the reward system Amex has in place for German customers looked quite good to me already.
