Hi all,

Me and two friends started 1 month ago our first adult dating campaigns. After a couple of weeks fighting to get into the green we finally got there. So everything looks fine at that point. But last night we received a couple of emails regarding poor quality of the leads. We’re receiving now about 66% for some offers less than the standard payout. So we’re having a problem here.

We want to improve the quality but the advertiser can’t give us feedback regarding the individual leads so it’s hard for us to check what placements/banner/lander is giving us the troubles.

Are there things in general we can do to improve the quality of the leads? This is what we use.

• A variation of the “rules” angle with a questionary.
• Network that in the middle of the night instant cut our payout: Adsimilis
• Traffic source mainly: Traffic Junky / Exo / Traffic Factory
• All placements : Video A/B, Inplayer, footer etc
• We don’t use the word “free” or no “creditcard needed”

Can you get the campaign(s) via another network? Why is the quality so low?
They cant expect you to keep delivering volumes if they cut your pay out by more than half.

Note: switching networks is a short term solution to long term problem.

Usually, if the advertiser doesn't give you feedback, it means all your funnels are poor or you're passing too many sub id's for them to optimize.

With adult, my personal experience (after about 500k leads) is that image is king! I find that the banner image/headline makes a massive difference in quality. Some women just seem to draw men who are going to pay.

When I test, I pass the image name to the advertiser. This method has gotten me uncapped/crazy payouts.

be careful with the chat-banner style. people could signup cause they expect something else. i know people who had quality problems cause they using only this style of banners.

The lead quality sometimes lives "its own life"so to speak The same funnel can result in shitty leads in one network, while it can secure you a nice pay bump in another network. Its true that adsimilis is one of those networks where I had lead quality issues more frequently than in others. So trying to run the offer through another network might be a solution, tho probably not a cure to your problem.

As other have already told you, the image on the banner and type of the banner plays a big role in lead quality. So use the golden rules : older chicks, no chat syle banners, limited usage of the word free ...

I agree with thebrent - the image itself is has massive impact.

The second most important factor that I didnt see mentioned is the actual spot you are buying traffic from - you are using a mix and that is causing problem to you IMO, footer and in-video deliver lower quality leads in my experience, while the NTVs and above the fold banners pull better quality traffic. Same with traffic networks, trafficfactory has only two sites, trafficjunky has limited amount of premium sites but exo has a ton of total crap on top of their premium inventory, so make sure you pick the better sites when facing quality issues.

Thanks for reaching out. Yes we received an email in around 24:00, the decrease in payout was effective immediately. When we wake up our campaign was already very red. I tried contacting my AM at Adsimilis to see if we can improve on quality. As you can see we're eager to improve.

But according to him we can't get any feedback whatsoever on the quality, besides that it was crap, and we're not able to test again. And there was nothing he can do.

do you ever use chat style banners?
Why do you give your image to the advertiser, so they can approve?

With passing he means giving the subid of the image (image name) to the advertiser so you can ask your advertiser which banners convert the best for them.

Yea I never give advertisers creatives, if they want them they can rip them like everyone else!

I obfuscate names too, so instead of passing a subid as blondetrannywithnineinchmeatstick.jpg, it would be, ba-22127.
