Simple enough i'm sure, i'm getting social media, ad words and other things, just wondering is someone can summarize for me, just to give me a statement in my head as i'm trying to digest a new dictionary tonight.

It's simply the place you get your traffic from.
It's the 'source' your visitors are coming from. Not much more to explain.
Everything sending you visitors and traffic can be a traffic source. Although especially in AM we mostly limit to digital sources, there are enough ways to generate online traffic offline as well. Just think of giving flyers away in shopping malls etc..
