Tracking Keyword Performance for PPC ads

Hey guys,

I joined STM today to increase my affiliate marketing knowledge. I hope to learn a lot from you guys.

I am working on a couple of pay per calls campaigns. All of my campaigns are on Adwords. I am using phrase match keywords with quantifier. I am having trouble to track conversion for exact keyword match. For example I have this keywords "+local +plumbers". Adwords shows conversions for this keyword but I don't have clue which keyword user typed i.e. it could be local plumbers in California or something else.

I also need a suggestion on keywords selection. What is the best keyword type to use in Adwords i.e. phrase, broad or exact?

What you are looking for is the Search Query Reports - quick google will show you how to find them....You might go crazy viewing this for new keywords to add.

As in, if you bid on the phrase term "city name plumbers" and convert with a positive ROI. There might be a stupid amount of low volume variations search queries, no reason to add them as a keyword to bid on unless they have volume.

For local - I don't use much exact match, I stick with phrase, broad modified, and broad. Always use negative keywords and location targeting.

Don't offer emergency service?Add it as a negative, etc.

Thanks @apeek22 I just checked full keyword report and found lots of keywords were irrelevant. That helped a lot.

How do you add "{city_name}" plumbers" dynamic keyword in Adwords? Is there a way to tell Adwords to replace city name with user city in the keyword?

How many Campaigns are you running?

It is was me and say you wanted to scale...

Google most populated cities in each state, add that to an excel file. Turn the lights low. Put some music on and "concatenate" until completion.

JK.

But seriously use the concatenate formula to build your Ads and keywords, it will take you no time at all.

Other than an Excel template to build out your ads, keywords, etc you can try "PPC Campaign Generator". That tool is my #1 go to when creating Adwords campaigns.
