Tracking with Google Analytics and other things

Hi,

I'm a newbie with tracking and a bit overwhelmed by the options available, so I will just describe my issue...

Background: I sell an ebook through a Wordpress Site with WooCommerce installed. Google Analytics Universal Code for tracking.

The Issue:

- User X clicks on a banner ad of mine (URL has custom campaign parameters in it)
- User X lands on my website, shows interest, but decides to leave
- The next day (or week, or whatever), User X googles my website name, comes back, and buys
- But now Google Analytics is attributing the conversion to "Google Organic"

I am loosing a lot of data because of that. I have enabled eCommerce Tracking in Analytics as well, but it doesn't that well.

Whats the best (and easiest option) for me to get clear data? I have looked into KissMetrics, but not sure if that's what I need.

Thanks!

Not completely sure what your problem is. If you set up the appropriate conversion funnels, you can set the attribution model to your heart's content. Right now, you've got last interaction attribution enabled, meaning the last user action that lead to the conversion gets all the credit.

Google Analytics uses cookies, can't you just use utm parameters for tracking and then make sure the attribution window is decent? I haven't used GA much but this shouldn't be too hard.

This is a pretty simple problem for tracking systems - identifying users from ad campaigns and associating their later conversions with the ad clicks - usually there are 7-30 days windows there if cookies are involved.
