Appetized in action... input please

Hello to all... thanks to caurmen who made the appetizer guide so easy to follow..

after reading the guide and zeno's guide to tracking, i decided to get my feet wet by following exactly what the guide is..

I'm promoting Flirchi SOI dating site (from adsimilis) on mobile traffic on decisive...

payout : $0.40
GEO : Indonesia
Angle : stop your mom from nagging at you to get married, go get a date here... (in indonesian)

I made 8 banners (4 static and 4 gifs) and put it into decisive and split it into 4 campaigns (app/site/wifi/mobile)

Here's my result for today :

Wins (is it impression?) : 3079
Clicks : 76
average CTR : 2.46%
Spent : $0.28
Revenue : $0

My questions are :
1. does the appetizer work for dating sites?
2. my affiliate network shows total 101 clicks for today whereas decisive only 76. Why the difference?
3. it's been almost 24 hours running this campaign and only got 76 clicks, is it normal?

Thanks in advance to all ...

1. Appetizer is a rather universal framework for mobile.
2. Decisive always sends some testers to your LP during the approval process.
3. Yeah, it's pretty normal nowadays. The volume is rather low on decisive - it looks like they have lost a partner or two. To get more clicks simply increase your bid.

Good luck with this buddy

Yep, I found that clicks are WAYY slow with decisive. I'm following the appetizer aswell, so I changed the smart CPM daily limit from $8 (as per appetizer) to unlimited. I found this slightly increased the the impression rate

In answer to #3, you might find this a useful read: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...x-It-Like-This

@Ruby & kacperp - Thanks

@caurmen - Thanks for info I'm going to try to increase my limit and switch to flat CPM

Today's update are as follows : (figures are total up to date)

Wins : 12108 ( up 357%)
Clicks : 272 ( up 357%)
average CTR : 2.25% (down 8.5%)
Spent : $1.08
Revenue : $0
ROI : -$1.08

Oh and I learned something the hard way... I made 10 banners for whatsapp wallpaper campaign and upload it to decisive, it was flat out rejected. Decisive dont allow whatsapp campaign

Thanks and have a nice day to all.... Let's make a lot of money...Click image for larger version.

It's been 3 hours since I switch to flat CPM, all i can say that caurmen's tip really hit it...

Here's my result after changing to manual CPM and increase my daily to $8

Clicks : 935 ( 350% increase in 3 hours!!)
Wins : 85,338
CTR : 1.09% (drop significantly)
Total Spent : $8.51

Clicks recorded at adsimilis : 544 clicks
Earning : $0

Also, I blacklisted 1 site that is costing me $1.74 in ad cost.. and has no conversion... As taught by the appetizer guide.

so I guess I have to wait until I spent $15 to make the cut for any placement....? am i right?

Excellent! Traffic's always the first hurdle - one of the corollaries of the "you have to spend money to make money" rule is that if you can't find a way to spend enough of it, you can't make it!

You don't need to wait until $15 to blacklist sites or apps ("placements"), but for everything else, yep, wait for the spend to hit $15.

thanks caurmen, noted. It's not looking good but keeping my hopes...

my AM said he suggest a better dating site which convert better...site look exactly like flirchi but it's a different brand... but I'll stick to $15 before changing dating site

Just to make sure, $15 is for total 4 campaign or total? I've read the replies in the appetizer thread but the answer/discussions are sometimes confusing,

Result update : (11 hour after budget increase)

Clicks : 1373
Wins : 121,184
CTR : 1.13% (slight increase)
Total Spent : $12.26

Clicks recorded in network : 1103
Result : $0

it feels like the affiliate marketing devil is having a big laugh....... gosh cant wait to see some conversion ... even breaking even will make me super happy....

Direct linking? Landing page? I imagine it would be difficult to sell dating sites without a landing page.

On a side note, that first conversion can sometimes be elusive. But it will come, stick with it!

Hi ssmarketer, thanks for your encouragement

I'm direct linking right now as I am following exactly what the appetizer taught me....

Today's update is as follows :

Clicks : 2021
Wins : 205.222
CTR : 0.98% (dropping again)
Total Spent : $21.06
ROI : $0

My Conclusion:

What I plan to do next

I am a little impatience here, feels like stopping the campaign and set up the landing page right now but then again if I do that right now I'm afraid that I dont have enough data yet to determine... what do you think?

08-21-2015 10:35 AM #13 ginsengtong (Member)

Afternoon update :

Clicks : 2837
Wins : 288.945
CTR 0.98%
Spend : $29.21
Revenue : $0 (goshh...)

It seems that today there's a lot more volume ... probably because it's friday and everyone is playing with their phones instead of working

So I set up Thrive on my VPS... (I didn't think that I could do it.... was nearly thinking to opt for the $29 installation service... but I manage to do it finally haha..)... sometimes I think that I underestimated what I am capable of...

This $29 that I save shall go to testing offer...

Now that Thrive is set up... I have loads of videos inside thrive to watch and have to scour STM to sharpen my tracking knowledge...

So I finally got a conversion last night ... haha...

Here's my result :

Wifi/App : Clicks : 1023 - CTR : 1.4% - Conversions =1 yeay...
Wifi/Site : Clicks : 1121 - 1.2%
Mobile/App : Clicks : 1938 - CTR : 1.5%
Mobile/Site : Clicks : 156 - CTR : 0.15%

spent total : $41.07
Revenue : $0.40
ROI : -$40.67

My questions are :

1. Why is my mobile/site campaign getting so little clicks (only 10% of the rest) while bidding the same amount? $0.6 manual CPM. Is it possible that certain placement have higher CPM price?
2. Should I start cutting placements/changing banner? Conversion was from a goal app in android. After reading through Amy's post on angle, I kind of regretted and now I think I can have better angle, better text on my banner. Lesson Learnt. Thanks Amy.

Cant wait to see more conversions. This campaign is going to enter it's first weekend. Most singles will be banging their head because their friends are catching a date and they are playing Clash of Clans all nite. So hopefully they'll convert my banner haha...

Have a good weekend to all..........
