How Do You Use Adcash Pixel On Managed Platform?

Hey,

I want implement a pixel at my Adcash reports as a way to fight the crazy discrepancy. (I'm using Voluum)

The thing is that unlike other traffic sources, they want me to implement a specific pixel for each campaign I'm running and they say that they do not have a Global pixel for all of the campaigns.

My question:

Do I need to open in Voluum xx different duplicates of Adcash traffic source for each campaign I'm running so I can get the pixels?

There must be a smarter way to do it.

Any suggestions??

Hey,

Yeah that's a super fun problem that is posed by their campaign specific pixels - I've spent a long time on the exact same problem :P

What I did was turn the unique values into Custom Variables in Voluum, and then passed the custom variable tokens in the postback URL.

I thiiiiink this suggestion should work for you.... (you might need to fight with your account manager to get them to do this as mine kept on replying to me like a robot as if I was the newbie that had no idea how tracking works... haha)

1) You'll need to enter the tokens as custom variable tokens under source setup (with REPLACE or something for the three unique values) in Voluum...

2) Enter your postback URL in the same source setup box on Voluum with the variables you need replaced set as the appropriate {var} like so....
My whole link looked like this: http://www.adcash.com/script/register_event.php?key={var6}&idform={var4}&campag ne={var5}&cid={externalid}

3) Send your account manager your link which will have "REPLACE" for the specific values, and wait for their reply with your unique postback with the values filled.

4) The tricky bit: (getting your Adcash manager to do what you say... haha). Tell them to replace the "REPLACE"s in your link with the appropriate values that they've just given you from the postback link.

Theoretically, (hopefully) the values should be passed from your campaign link, through to Voluum as the custom variables - which will then be entered into your postback url replacing the {var} tokens.

Let me know if this works for you!

Sounds Perfect!

I'll test it today and update here!

Many thanks

You can just ask for the postback url per each campaign, manually add them to the the URL from Voluum, and send it back to the rep!

@elad_a - yeah that would be easier than confusing your poor rep and probably help in avoiding any errors!

@james5000
Ask your AM, he/she will provide you that.
You can use their pixel only on the Managed account, they don't provide it with the Self Served account

Thanks for that elad_a - after reading and contacting them, i just figured that out. My account is self served - which means no postback url - which begs the question..... how do i track conversions via Voluum if no data will be posted back? Sorry again if this is a total newb q.

The conversion flow is:

User action -> advertiser fires conversion to network -> network fires conversion to your tracking (in your case, Voluum) -> tracking fires conversion to traffic source (if applicable, in this case it doesn't). The traffic source is the last link in the chain.

Voluum still receives the conversion - without a postback URL all it means is Voluum just doesn't pass the lead on to AdCash.
As long as your Voluum postback URL is set correctly at the network end, you're good!
