Which traffic source to start testing before scaling to others!

I know most of you (those who are doing xxx/day and above) are testing with with 1 traffic source first. and if there is potential/profitable, you will continue to spend more and scale to other traffic sources.

What would the first traffic source that you will start testing for

1. banners ads
2. pop/redirect ads?
