Which countries block Internet ads the most?

Looks like running ads in Greece is a non starter ...

Which makes me wonder about something: When we're paying for traffic, and when an ad is blocked, do we still get charged?

Depends on the software used. For AdBlock, the connection to the server trying to fetch the ad is blocked, therefore an impression can't occur.

Edit: Did some more research and stumbled upon a neat method to capture ad blocker enabled traffic on web properties. Perhaps it's useful to some of you guys.

Just use per click payment ad. networks in countries that blocks ads.

Very good question. I don't know.....but its only relevant if you're paying the traffic source CPM (so not CPC/CPI/CPL/CPA) and I wonder if an impression can occur and get counted if the user blocks all ads.
Definitely a good question to ask your CPM Traffic sources because it would a bit harsh if they'd charge you for these impressions if your ad is not loaded

Even though many affiliates think adblockers are bad, I think that's the opposite.

Mainly because the people that use adblockers won't click the ads anyway, so there will be just wasted impressions that affiliates pay for. From simple math, affiliates should get higher CTRs and lower CPC.

Good point I never thought of it that way.

I am new but I have always been thinking that in the future more users installing ad blocking is something to consider in this industy ?

I just read this article from Harvard Business Review after receiving it in the Decisive Newsletter:

If anybody else reads this article I would like to read what you think...

I once logged into a Saudi Arabian VPN to spy on what people were running there.

Saudi Arabia has internet censorship and is notorious for blocking all kinds of websites.

I noticed affiliates running offers that were actually blocked by the government there (mostly bizzopp offers).

Couldn't help but feel bad for the affiliates lol.

Moral of the story: login to a VPN and check if your website isn't blocked in Saudi Arabia before running a campaign! Or any country with internet censorship.
