[Tech] VPS connected. What is my OS and computer model now?
Hi there,
I have been wondering that if I am using a Macbook to connect to a Windows VPS, once connected, what has the OS and computer model become?
Lets say I am using this VPS to run facebook ads, will facebook see me using a Windows computer or still OS X? And what about the computer model that they will see?
Thanks!

This might answer the question I think you're asking: https://www.whatismybrowser.com/, it'll tell ya what info websites see when you visit them.
To answer your question, they see Windows Server 2008 or 2012, depending on your VPS.

They see the info of the OS where the browser is installed and being ran on ( in your case Windows ).

How about the computer model that facebook sees in this case?

It's the same. If you are opening a remote desktop into another computer (Windows in this case), and browsing from there, then that is what is being seen.

Your remote connection to the VPS is basically just controlling the mouse and keyboard.
What device you are using to do so is irrelevant, the device/OS/browser doing the actual browsing of sites has not changed.

So you mean they will see my computer model as macbook? Sorry I still don't get it.
Once connected to a Windows VPS, yes I know they will see Windows as the system OS, but I mean the model of the PC, what will they see?
For example before I connect to the Windows VPS, they will see my PC model as "Macbook", so after connected to the VPS, what model will they see?

Your Macbook is irrelevant. It is not that system that is doing the browsing. Period. Your Macbook's "device type" or "OS version" doesn't somehow infect or pass through the computer you are remote controlling.
When you drive around a small remote control car people don't look at and think "look at that 5'9" 27 year old German male rolling around on the ground". It's a car and the person remote controlling it doesn't change that.
Likewise, remote controlling your VPS is more like you phoning someone who is using another computer somewhere in the world and giving them instructions to do things. In this situation, you certainly wouldn't think your iPhone is now going to be the device type detected.

As far as I know, they won't see that. All they see is the User-Agent (like Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:39.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/39.0 - a HTTP request does not reveal your notebook brand.) and maybe some browser fingerprints. Because of the last thing: if you are using such kind of proxy or VM (Virtual Machine) to fool Facebook, then it would be wise to have a separate one for every account, because of this:
https://panopticlick.eff.org/ + a lot of more things. Oh, and don't forget to change IPs. No Experience with fucking with FB, but would advise this anyway.
