Greetings FB gods!
I have a pretty cool not-for-profit project going on facebook called "In 5 Years From Now". It's like international Humans Of NY with a twist delivered by my funded team of photographers from around the globe.
You can see the album here.
These are our goals with this project:
1. Build an audience for the page so that I could later promote other projects created by my foundation.
2. Promote the "In 5 Years From now" project, get it popular and in 5 years publish a physical album, spend the gathered profits making our world a better place.
3. Promote tolerance, mutual understanding and peace of mind.
4. Have fun with the process!
I have a budget of $50-75/day to spend on FB ads and I would like to target English speaking audience globally.
I tried running some campaigns targeting fan of Humans of New York fans but it was way too expensive - ~0.75 per like. I am still optimizing with various angles/banners but it's not looking too good.
I would really appreciate if you could shoot some ideas/angles/tips at me. In exchange I will get you a drink at one of the future STM conferences (they are usually free there but still). Thanks a lot!
I took a look at your page. If I am being honest, I must say it was not clear at all to me what the project is about, why you are doing this and why I should be interested.
If you look at all successful non profits, they communicate these points very clearly. They give people a reason to care.
In your case, you don't really seem to give me a reason to care about your project.
Just some honest feedback, I hope it helps.
Yes I'm also a little confused.
My reasoning leads me to believe that you'll take a photo and get a bio from someone, then track them down in 5 years time and do a follow-up to see how things went. Is this correct?
If not, I totally have no idea, which is not a good start.
Personally, I think a 5 year plan for something like this is a bad idea. Why? Because by the time 5 years go by, chances are no one initially involved will give a damn anymore.
If you want more viral appeal I would consider having people hold up a sign with something like #SeeYouInFive or something that at least makes it a *little* more obvious.
As for the profits - how exactly do these come into existence? I can understand this as a hobbyist project, but I don't see where the potential for revenue comes in.
