Mastering mobile : It only takes one campaign

Hello STM,

I'm Toni from Indonesia. I got introduced to affiliate marketing by some random posts on facebook. And then I stumbled upon STM. After reading mobile cookbook by caurmen, I decided to focus on mobile by following mobile cookbook's structure.

Plan: Focus on 1 traffic source (decisive) and 1 vertical (app installs) until I am profitable.

What I've done so far:
- Got approved by f5media, Avazu, and MundoMedia.
- Signed up with Decisive
- Signed up with Voluum
- Signed up with amazon aws (using s3+cloudfront)
- Signed up with HMA
- Spoke with AM, offer recommended : Omni Swipe

First Campaign - Omni Swipe

Traffic source: Decisive
Offer: Omni Swipe, recommended by AM
Geo: ID
Payout: 0.23

Budget: $7/day per campaign, based on mobile cookbook
Bid: $0.46 CPA goal smartCPM

Angles: fast access to your favorite apps (got translated to indonesia)

Campaign structure:
Following the mobile cookbook (4 campaigns, Wifi/App, Wifi/Site, Mobile/App, Mobile/Site) + 10 banners for each campaign.
Split direct link and LP (50/50)
Blacklist App/Site based on STM Decisive Blacklist

Banners :

Landing pages:

Results:

Spend after 2 days: $10.86
Revenue: $1.15
Net profit/loss: -$9.71 (-89.41% ROI)

What I Noticed:
- There is one weird site placement (mp3 download) that have 15% CTR.

I am going to blacklist this placement.

Next Tasks:
- I am going to blacklist apps based on http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...ghlight=vortex
- going to double the CPA Goal. With current CPA Goal it will takes weeks to get enough data.

Nice work on getting started!

The banners look good, and it's good to see you're testing a variety of designs and banners. The next thing I'd recommend putting on the testing list would be some more images - you've used the purple image (I'm guessing that's the logo?) a bunch of times, so trying a bunch of other key images would be a good idea.

The lander also looks solid - short and to the point. I don't speak Indonesian so can't comment in detail on the copy, but I don't see any obvious red flags!

Looking forward to your results!

If F5 Media is not an option at the moment for newbies, just be aware there are tens (if not hundreds) of other networks to apply for.

As a newbie (with 0 campaigns launched) I was accepted at Affiliaxe and Clickdealer after a short interview on Skype.

Thanks caurmen,

I'll put it on my testing list.

So, here is my overall stats after 5 days

Conversions: 7
Spend: $19.32
Revenue: $1.61
Net profit/loss: -$17.71 (-91.66% ROI)

So far, I didn't make any major changes except blacklisted some bad placements that didn't converts.

What I've done:
- prepared some new banners based on caurmens suggestion

Next Tasks:
- Launch same offer on another GEO
- increase the CPA goal to 6x payout ($1.38)

Questions:
- I compared some of my banners based on CTR and it's statistically significance enough to replace some banners. Should I replace the banners based on CTR? or should I compared them based on conversions (Based on what I read from kepe95's follow along. The decision should be made based on conversions, not CTRs)?

- For my next campaign, I am thinking to start bid high (to get data faster). After get enough conversions, I will start optimizing and adjust the bid to make it profitable. Is this a good approach?

Interesting that your best set up has 9.9% which is impressive imo, but no conversions. I had a bad mp3 placement as well, but not the same. Are you conversions mainly from LP or direct linking?

LOL, the mp3 placement alone has 15% CTR. It really messed up entire data.
The conversions mainly from LP (only 2 from direct link). Btw, I saw your message and thread. I added you on skype, would really great if you can join our mastermind. We will have our first weekly call tomorrow.
