Teach me to proper analyze the speed of mobile LP
Good day to you!
Using tools.pingdom.com and gtmetrix.com to check the speed of my LPs. Second service even has 3G Mobile Connection which is super good but it's pretty inaccurate. I've tested my LP 4 times in 3 minutes with the same conditions:
- Mumbai, India
- Firefox (Desktop) (the only active item)
- 3G Mobile (1.6 Mbps/768 Kbps, 200ms)
[Also I'm using
Adsbridge (the link was from an inactive campaign).]
All had different results: 3.5s, 3s, 3.2s, 2.8s. For mobile LP this is huge difference (am I wrong?). The overall speed is super bad (I know) but this topic is not about optimizing.
Questions:
1. Should I trust results from gtmetrix.com ?
2. Should I always test mobile LPs on 3G?
3. Is there a better service for my needs? What can you suggest?

What you can control is your server and your landers code. What you can't control is the network. In other words don't bother simulating 3G etc. latencies but instead focus on optimizing time to first byte, blocking code on lander like webfonts, scripts, etc. Personally I use own tools and webpagetest.org to benchmark & optimize.

I think the changes come because the page get cached and it's faster on the next requests.
As northernlights said, try to squeeze the max from your server ( what you can control ) and disregard factors you have no control over.
