Question on hosting and landing pages (mobile)

Hi all,

Thank you for STM for being part of my AM discovery journey. I am focusing on mobile for a start, and I have read the mobile cookbook, STM, Charles Ngo blog and I do have some questions to asked. I have searched the forums and on google, but I could not get any definite answers.

There are different areas that we can focus on (Pin summit, App Installs, Utilities, Gaming etc)

1) Landing pages - Do I need to create and host a landing page for the above areas? Specifically for mobile.

For example, on charles blog on pin summit - (http://charlesngo.com/mobilemarketingoffers/) - is this a landing page, or is it part of what the affiliate network will provide for us?

2) There are tutorials that teach us to create simple banners - I have created one. Normally, under what kind of campaigns can I use this banners for? These are 320x50 pixel banners.

Thank you very much for your patience to reply.

Thank you STM!

Aksel

Hey welcome

You've made a good start with your research!

Answers to your questions...

1) Unfortunately, there is no yes or no answer to this! Only stats can tell you. I've run some campaigns that have worked direct linked, and some that have only worked with a landing page. The only real way to tell whether a landing page works better/worse than direct linking is to test both at the same time. Generally, however, I've found that landing pages have worked better for me than direct linking. Landing pages allow you to put an angle on your offer and separate it from every other "win an iphone" page for example.

All of the pictures on Charles' post you mentioned look like offer pages (the page supplied by the network) - perhaps with the exception of the anti-virus one (I've seen landers very similar so am unsure whether it's a lander or an offer).

2) I don't understand this question...? Could you clarify? You run banner ads on display traffic (at places like Decisive & Go2Mobi), rather than pop traffic, but I'm not sure if that's what you mean?
