Everything you wanted to know about PropellerAds, but were afraid to ask
Hey guys, I'm Andrey, one of the "oldest" managers at PropellerAds. I've seen several posts and rumors about what we can/can't do, so I decided to create a dedicated thread to give you more information on our network.
First of all:
- we are a big source of pop-under/redirects traffic, recently we had mostly web traffic, now we have web and mobile 50/50
- all geos are present, but strongest: US, Latam, Western Europe.
- if you want to test some offers, these categories tend to work better with our traffic:
binaries, one-click-billing, forex, casino, betting, mobile gaming (mostly casual games)
- we don't accept paypal yet. Basically the wire transfer is the only simple way of working with us.
- the minimal budget: 1000$
- we can work on CPM or CPI/CPL/CPS basis.
My contacts are:
skype: andrey.propellerads
email: andrey@propellerads.com
I don't check the forum often, but if I will find questions in this thread, I will give you the answers, hopefully on a weekly basis.
Cheers!

1. So if we get assigned someone else chances are we fail more easily?

Jesus Christ, whats the big deal? He is only bragging/joking a little bit (he even took the time to put the two cute icons). An account manager should help you and it is not a replacement for a bad offer/landing/sales funnel...

hi Rian,
Carrier targeting - yes. Retargeting on mobile - depending on the type of offer. This should be solved personally with a manager I think.
And I will just leave adcash's comment at my thread unnoticed. I'm against aggressive marketing.

Has anyone here been in touch with Andrey? He was very quick to take over my account at propeller, but when I sent some new camps to be set up I stopped hearing from him. That was a week ago. Followed up with multiple skype messages but no replies. Has anyone heard from him recently? Starting to worry about him...hope he's alright!
Amy
EDIT: Andrey's fine! He just checked in on Skype. Been on a trip for the past few days.

I'm being quoted between $20-30 CPM for carrier targeting... is this normal with Propellerads or am I being bamboozled?
Makes no sense to me as I would be better off just buying bulk and sending non-carrier traffic to some random offer instead.
Which is probably what I will do.

Hi Amy,
Can i check with you, when you create new campaign, do they have a interface for you to create new campaigns, or do you have to submit a form to create new campaign?
What about cutting placement or pausing a campaign, does the interface allow you to do it freely?
Thanks!

$20-30 CPM, I heard about direct ads in forex sites that have prices like $18 CPM, I'm in touch with bloomberg media and seen prices lower than that, for a media company to charge these prices? Sorry That's redic.
They buy that traffic on CPM too, so I would be guessing it's quite the high margin spread. I would pass.
I think the guy promoting should provide some explanation since it's not in his best interest to leave these comments out in the open without explaining why they charge those prices.
This is why I love paying this forum $$$, I actually get my full money worth by hearing these comments.

I think one should note that PropellorAds serves up pop traffic, so $20 CPM would essentially give you a thousand clicks to your lp or offer. Buying CPM on sites like Bloomberg translated into a thousand impressions on a 'banner', which tells you nothing yet about what actual traffic you will get from it.

Basically you just send in an email or let Andrey know via skype. There's no form to fill out. I'll just say for example "please set up this camp for me in this geo with this targetting and this bid and this daily budget" or "please pause [camp ID] for me". They assign a campaign ID to each camp so you can reference each by its ID. With all managed sources there will be a lag time between when you request for a camp to be paused, and when it actually gets paused. Everything's done through a single account manager and since they need to sleep from time to time (

), it may be hours before your camp actually gets paused and that's just the way it is with most managed sources. This is also why it's so important to have an extremely responsive account manager.
To avoid nasty surprises, I try to test offers and landers etc. on self-serve networks first and then scale to managed sources. I also try to launch camps early in the day so that if things don't go in the right direction, I have ample time to request for it to be paused before the account manager leaves work. Also, try not to launch new camps just before the weekend, just in case you can't get a hold of your account manager when you need to pause something. I try to never bother them over the weekend because these guys are already on guard almost around the clock - they deserve a bit of off-time as well. I honestly don't understand why managed networks can't hire one person to take the night/weekend shift to provide better service and to also let their account managers completely relax when they're away from the office. It would be nice to be able to pause a camp at any time when unexpected problems arise... Not complaining, just wondering.
Hope that helps!
Amy
P.S. Andrey's been great since we got back in touch! I really appreciate his responsiveness in spite of his being so busy getting everything ready for his wedding later this month. Congrats Andrey!

Anyone knows an account manager inside Propeller aside Andrey or Jaro? I am trying to work with them since the 3rd of this month and all I got is "sorry, been away", "send me the info and I'll contact you". Not very encouraging considering that the platform is not self serve...

Check the prices on (for example) adult self-serve networks for specific carriers and you won't get something for $20 in some cases - for a reason

I read your article on STM. I am new to AM. I am interested in launching a pop-under campaign. Do you know of or can you recommend a step by step guide to launching such a campaign? Awaiting your response.

Hello!
I realized that from the propellerAds SSP planner, the volume shown seem to be very little for every geo that i have to serach.
Is it true that propellerads SSP has alot lesser volume compared to propellerads managed account?
I have earlier on opened a separate thread -> http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...P-Volume-Issue
Thanks!
