Is Decisive the right place to start for a newbie?

Hi, I am new here so looking for some advice related to Mobile. So far been enjoying the forum and have learnt a lot.

Is decisive.is the right place to start as a newbie in 2015? I am asking because I have heard many partners have been warning about bot traffic. is that true? I have read the cookbook where its recommended to start with Decisive.

Would be great if I could get some help here

Hey there!

IMHO, i think you should get some info on 2015 trends first, there is a great post by caurman about that. i think it will give you some knowledge. furthermore i think that decisive is a great place to learn basics of display and controlling traffic. to tell you that you should go as hard as you can with decisive..i cant tell you that. it depends on a lot of other factors, like what vertical you're running what geos etc.

So for concluding this:
- Read the whole newbie zone for at least twice.
- Look for trends by reading and spying - there's a great spying guid by @iamatilla.
- Decide for vertical you want to start with - better choose low payout under 1.5$
- Start testing offers and building workflow.

I think that will be a good starting points..

Good Luck!

Its good place to learn, but i cant make it in decisive. one of the network terminated my account due to fraud activity when i used decisive as my traffic source, i dont know who to blame. Just use it as learning point, when it come to scale, find another sources. Cheers

Decisive has 2 things going for it:

1. Easy interface
2. Usually cheaper than others.

That said 1) means you get way less granularity and info about the placements, which is actually bad for optimizing, and 2) is still good but quality of traffic might suffer overall.

On Decisive you don't know on which exchanges exactly you are bidding. That's kind of a problem in my view. I think Go2Mobi is a better place to start. The downside of G2M vs Decisive is that G2M doesn't approve campaigns during weekends.

Yep definitely a good place to learn as mansuit said - due to the easy interface which gives you a great idea of some of the many variables involved in mobile.

However, there is also a lot of competition on Decisive and a lot of people struggle to make it work - although it IS still definitely possible. Some of the follow alongs around here are proof of that.

I would also recommend it side by side with Go2Mobi.

Try out pop traffic. Narrows down the time testing a lot as you don't have banners to split test, only landers to worry about. Popcash is a good place to start, less targeting than popads but i find it usually converts better. Good luck!

I forgot to mention in OP that i would be promoting sweepstake offers. Do you think pop offers would be a good bet to start with? What's your opinion on starting with Go2mobi?

Go2mobi is going to be similar as Decisive. Strict approvals, lots of banners to test, lots of bots to optimize off campaigns. Big headache for a beginner.

Yes sweeps do well on pops. Popcash and zeropark are easier to learn on (easy approvals, less variables to optimize). Zeropark is nice because it integrates very well with Voluum making tracking/optimizing a lot easier for a newbie. Also check out AdFly & Mobicow for a pop source with lots of cheap traffic not too many people are using.

Zeroparks looks great for a newbie if i read the forum but this is what someone that works there said to me:

"We do not accept new advertisers as the traffic volume will be to high for them to make a postive ROI, we suggest starting out with smaller networks."

So.... is it possible for a newbie to start here? Because if so then i will convince the guy from Zeroparks to accept me...

Decisive has been unresponsive lately and some users are reporting traffic issues as well as really long approval times. Try Go2Mobi instead.

Stay away from Decisive.

Here's the latest on them:
