Are there any (not so well known) traffic sources that work for adult offers? (23)

Are there any (not so well known) traffic sources that work for adult offers?

Hey,

This may sound like a stupid title, but hopefully it isn't.
When I look at Exo,TJ,AdX and all other well known adult traffic sources, then they are all pretty well FULL.
Everyone is trying to make it in this industry with copy/pasting campaigns which leads to insane CPM prices and low street payouts due to overal quality.

Google and FB are not a big fan of (adult)dating, but are there any other major traffic sources I could explore?

For the last 2 years my biggest advantage was the good CPM rate with monthly flat-rate buys.
But even these buys are so expensive these days that it's almost impossible to profit.
However, a few people are still making BIG bucks in this industry, so there must be something I can do to make my unique campaigns profitiable again.

Anybody?

~Dennis

If it's hidden and making someone money, I wouldn't count on them outing it on a large public forum full of their competition

Completely true... And I understand this very well, even before I typed out this question.
But currently this is the main reason why I can't increase my profits...
The angles and landers are unique and working very well.

Just the amount of traffic is holding me back...

I probably should go the RON route, but that sucks BIG time.
And by the time I have that profitable, many copycats have already stolen my stuff and put a team on it to make more money out of it then me, the creator.

Are you able to up your bid at all and still be profitable?

Some networks your daily budget and the amount of money in your account plays a role also.

If you know what CPM you can pay and still remain profitable you can always try buying direct with sites instead of through a traffic network.

Good luck. Keep us updated

Direct buys on the major sites is not really interesting for them.
They know very well they can send a shitload of traffic to TJ/Exo etc. , so there's no reason for them to handle with a guy who wants to have a bunch of GEO traffic they sell to those other companies anyways..

Well, damn good CPM buys with quality traffic and a nice bumped payout because of quality.
The first one will not happen anymore because the adult space is just to full.
And for quality traffic to be working out I need lots of it.

Some of my customers who were major buyers would use this strategy when they encountered competition. They would purposefully over spend and pound the competition with high cpm bids (even when they would lose money daily on these bids). Just to hammer them into submission on the traffic source... As soon as the other big competitor stopped bidding and (basically moved onto greener pastures). They would drop their bids back to the normal bid it was before the competition showed up and have no competition ;-)

Worked really well for them but some days they would lose $xx,xxx daily so it's risky for sure haha

Hi,

did you trying buying traffic from our RON and Tier 3 placements?
These have a much lower CPM.

You are damn right its full. Because where there are profits there is competition.

Trafficjunky is a fine place to start and my go to traffic source for testing.

Ask mainstream networks if they are fine with adult - more then you would think do it ;-) Or they are fine if you use a very soft lander...

i dont think raising the bids are neccessary, we have been watching our competition lately, and we have seen that they did this. usually we panic and increase our bids or do something.

but closer study into their strategies and funnel showed us that they were actually losing money, and they soon exit or drop their bids.

maybe we could study even deeper into their entire funnel, traffic sources, servers, offers, optimization strategies, draw their entire business plan and profit, and then fight against that.

Also, bear in mind that the media buyers you are seeing on the major traffic networks are making sure to connect with the sponsors or networks with top CPL or CPA offers that yield highest epc

Just about any traffic source can be converted in to an adult traffic source -- through a combination of cloaking, and/or soft landers.

I suppose what you are really looking for is the sources with the least compromise attached.

As a general rule, the farther you stray from the competition, the more innovative you're going to have to become to design a creative funnel that works with the source.

I can think of 1, maybe 2, adult sources that market themselves as adult sources where the bids aren't sky-high.

Adult affiliates pay a premium for convenience.

You could devise an adult strategy for Google, Facebook, or any non-adult display source.

What I mean is that it's easy to lower your costs and avoid the competition, but it's not easy to do this without introducing complexity to your day-to-day campaigns.

Some of the biggest affiliates in our industry are successful precisely because they sacrifice convenience for complexity, in markets where there's enough traffic to make it worthwhile.

Maybe look at ad formats or placements other advertisers are not, sometimes those have lower bids and less competition with decent volume.

Check similar web - adult category, top 100 or so sites by traffic in the country you want more exposure in. With or without the ghostery plugin. In Europe you'll get shitload of new ad sources - I estimate approx 5 per country easy.
