PopAds + Malaysia = $100 CPM. WTF!!!

I was running a campaign in Malaysia with popads for several weeks and it's going well for me (I'm pretty new and learning all this stuff), I'm bidding high in my opinion over $10 CPM. But yesterday something weird happened, I barely received any traffic and when I log in pop up to see what happens I discoverd that the bids are incredibly high. Max. bid is $100CPM, I can get the 2 position with a $34 bid but I cannot get profitable with this and the amount of traffic with this bid is still low.

I'm telling it to vent but I like to know your opinion too. How can someone make profitable this crazy bid? what kind of offer is he running? I'm running my campaign in RON and not receiving traffic, it means that this guy is getting almost all the traffic of the network, how much money is he investing? if his final price is $33CPM and the network inventory has almost 200.000 unique visitors for this country, he is investing $6.600/day, definitely I cannot compete with this

Most likely illegal gambling offers. And I'm guessing whitelisted. You will see this pattern repeated many times over in a lot of traffic sources for that geo.

I'm running RON and no getting traffic, if he si whitelisting must have a long list ir including the big traffic sites... If it's an ilegal gambling offer, is supossed that the camping will stopped soon?

MY is pretty crowded now , but I still doubt someone can make anything even close to $100 CPM working

I guess the person is paying much less - If the CPM is set to $100 that's just the maximum, I guess for most placements he's paying SIGNIFICANTLY less ... still a very high bid , keep an eye on it , would be suprised if it keeps there for more than a couple days.

(the only other halfway reasonable idea would be a whitelist campaign, however you said you're not getting any traffic..)

PS. Also check if you maybe made some change to cut yourself off from traffic (some odd targeting by accident) and the $100 cpm is maybe indeed just a small whitelist campaign you analyzed wrong. Soooo many options, I still wonder till this day about some stuff just not making any sense

Bingo kepe95!

Yesterday after read a chapter of finch premium posts (great read, buy it) I decided to change my cappng from 1/24 hours to 1/7 days. I didn't believe that this change cause that my traffic turn to almost zero by after read your comment I decided to reverse this change and traffic come back! Thanks man, i learn a lot from you and from this experienced I have learned that if your theory makes non sense, you have to think in another ones.

Thanks pokerkien and meghani for your answers too guys, all of you help me a lot of

That's very good advice from kepe indeed.

When you notice a sudden change that you can't explain, always check back on the last changes you made, don't think if you believe they're the reason or, not, just reverse them to see if it fixes the issue.

Happened to me a couple times with suden CR% drop, and I almost went crazy over analyzing what it could be, source, offer, etc .. turned out to be a change I made to the LP (that didn't change ctr%, so was not visible to me after i set it up), as simple as that.
