This Getting Started Guide is written so that you can use it however suits you best.
If you'd prefer to dip in and out as you encounter problems and questions to which you need answers, you can do that.
However, if you'd prefer to follow a step by step guide, you can also use the Getting Started Guide in that way.
1) Start by reading the Introduction To Affiliate Marketing and the guide to The Most Important Element To Affiliate Marketing Success.
2) Next, read the Skills You Need To Begin Affiliate Marketing and Budget You Need to Begin Affiliate Marketing sections. Make sure you have the budget in place, and that you have learned the basic skills required.
3) Once you have read those, read the Software, Hardware And Memberships You Need To Begin Affiliate Marketing. Sign up to, buy or acquire everything you need as listed in that article.
4) Read the Guide To Setting Up Your First Campaign. Then, set up and run your first campaign. That guide will direct you to read other guides, like How Do I Know When To Stop Running Ads?, when it's appropriate to do so.
5) Once you have run a campaign for a few days, read What's The Best Overall Strategy For Success As I Start AM? and When Should I Stop Running A Campaign Or Offer? Those will serve as your foundation for the rest of your affiliate career to profit!
6) Once you have a campaign that is profitable consistently for a week or so, read I've Got A Working Campaign! How Do I Scale It Up?
7) And finally, once you're pulling in steady $xxx days, read through How Do I Scale Up To Making $x,xxx A Day Or More? . You can actually read that before then if you like, but walk before you run - don't try and scale up to four figures before you're in profit on a campaign!
This thread is very helpful for new entrants as a newbie like me. Thank you.

Awesome! Just read all the threads, thanks a lot.
Just what I needed, thank you, Caurmen.
I'm just getting started learning myself, thank you for the awesome set of information to get started!
Quick question... about the memberships that I will need. When it comes to affiliate network memberships, do I need a currently running website that meets a requirement in terms of traffic, or anything like that? Do I need past online marketing credentials that i can show? Or, can I just sign-up as a completely new member and tell them what kind of marketing I intend to get started on?
Hi Caurmen, I'm new to the forum but I've noticed your posts are very precise yet easy to understand. Thank you for your contribution
Hello,
I am on my very beginnings with AM, so there is a lot of stuff that I currently do not understand, but soon I will
.
So the biggest problem in my learning is that I do not understand many phrases and words like VERTICAL, WHITE HAT, CONVENTIONAL AM etc.
Does the STM have an internal dictionary where I can easily learn new words?
Thanks in advance
@vukasin1984 - in addition to the above, if you're ever confused, just ask. We're here to help!
@Caurmen
Hi, i've read through the newbie guides but i'm still confused even the step by step guide.
what came into my head to get started is :
1. choose vertical and traffic source
any recommendation for a totally newbie to get started with which vertical and traffic source? i may go and learn for it after this. based on one of the thread suggested pop traffic and pin submit vertical?
2. sign up for affiliate networks
- 3-4 networks? should i sign up all of them?
- convert2media : which to choose? sign up as publishers or advertisers?
- f5m - i'm confusing filling the form of payment model - should i choose, CPC, CPM or what?
- http://neverblue.com, http://www.adsimilis.com.
3. You will need to rent a web server or a CDN (Content Delivery Network) account in order to serve your landing pages. can i use my own landing page creator tool for this?
4. sign up for
5. anything else?
So, in order to get started i've to get some capitals around $300-$500 to buy those tools, software? before i can launch my first campaign and take a loot how the affiliate works
?
Please advise and sorry for the super newbies questions
@aaronblenda -
1) If you want a pick-up-and-go recommendation, pick one of the following (roll a dice if you like): pops and pin submits, pops and sweeps, mobile and sweeps.
2) Yes, sign up to all of them. All the options you've listed are good. F5: choose CPC.
3) You can use it to create landing pages, but you'll still need somewhere to host them. For a simple option read this.
4) Yep.
5) Nope!
The only cost you should have to pay for all of that is $99 for your first month of
Good luck - and one more recommendation. Start a Follow-Along thread so that you can get help whenever you need it!
Looking forward to hearing how you get on.
@caurmen
thanks! anw, can i have your point of view here ? http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...tinue-that-way
Excuse me guys but since I haven't found a guide about it I'll ask it here. Where do I find a guide (description or something similar) about all or at least the most of the methods of payments (CPA, CPM etc.), verticals and categories (pin submits, media buying adults, beauty and health products, incent traffic etc)?
When I apply to networks I sometimes find some verticals ot types of traffic that I've never heard before
Thanks in advance
Here are two posts that cover some parts of what you asked :

http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...raffic-Sources
I will write a new article about this next week, summarizing whats in the 2 posts above and also adding the offer categories.
Fantastic thread!
Absolutely must read for all newbies!
Is this still a good place to start? New to this industry & eager to start learning.
Solid info, but dated. Get over to Vortex’s 40 day pop tutorial 2019 in the newbie zone, that will help you the most
Thank you so much buddy for sharing this! Really a great handy tool for a newbie like me
That's some good material, thank for sharing!
