You DO need a budget available to you before you start Affiliate Marketing.
Virtually no-one makes money straight away with affiliate marketing. You should expect to lose money whilst you are learning.
You will spend most of this money on buying traffic for your campaigns, and a small amount of it on buying hosting and tracking services (and your STM subscription, of course).
Generally, you'll need a budget of around $3,000 - $5,000 over a couple of months. You don't need this available right at the start: having a "pot" of money that you top up every month or so is fine.
$1,000 over a couple of months is about the absolute minimum to get anywhere.
That might seem like a lot of money to lose - but you're not actually losing it, you're paying for data and learning.
Think of this stage as if you're paying for a college course. If you were training to become a lawyer in the USA, it could easily cost you over $100,000! And at the end of it, you'd probably earn less than most experienced affiliate marketers.
For the amount of money you can make, training in affiliate marketing is a really good investment.
Here's a great post on how to treat your affiliate marketing spend from STM mod Finch.
the amounts you have given caurmen are reasonable
expect to loose cash in the beginning, but yes you are learning , and buying data .
i think if some buddy has just started and he keeps testing many verticals he is gonna loose more .
we've lost over £50k in our business last year for operational mishaps. Had to sack people and get better insurance to cover these mistakes.
I totally back you in spending money in learning.
