Hey STMers,
Did anyone else notice issues with Smaato on their traffic source? I have issues with the traffic flow from there on Go2Mobi, and Decisive's issue for super low traffic is also likely caused by them. I know that because the inventory I was targetting is Smaato inventory.
Any specific geos that you noticed this problem in? I have this problem for Indonesia and Mexico. For Mexico there are other paremeters that might be the cause but given what I know about Indonesia, it might well be an exchange wide problem. Any info would be quite helpful for everyone running campaigns on Smaato I think
Cheers,
Manu.
Were you running sweepstakes? I was told that Smaato is restricting access to placements if you're doing contest/sweepstake offers. (Experienced it myself as well)
Nope, running utilities, PINs and app installs. I talked to G2M support these last few days about traffic issues and yesterday it seemed fixed now it's not anymore
They didn't mention any publisher restriction for what I was running.
Also, I'm getting SOME traffic, just not enough. Basically bids not being put in with the frequency they should. Also, I know G2M puases traffic if you win too few bids, to save system resources, but I'm winning like 70% of bids, so it's not that either.
To give a clear explanation:
Example 1:
Yesterday: http://prntscr.com/7rexlw
Half of today: http://prntscr.com/7rexov
Example 2:
Yesterday: http://prntscr.com/7rexc1
Half of today: http://prntscr.com/7rexfx
Different geos for the examples, and placements over the 2 days are part of the exact same campaign, same bid, no extra blacklisted stuff, etc.
Go2mobi is your best bet for transparent info here as they will be able to see directly into the exchange processes going on behind the scenes.
I think we saw some similar stuff during or shortly after the 6 Week AMC and I believe it was due to the publisher temporarily pulling Smaato from their side, but I could be wrong. One caveat with Indonesia is that BBM dominates the android traffic and so any changes with that cause major disruptions.
Unfortunately it's quite hard to diversify impression inventory when one placement is an elephant, a super big giant BBMWhale.
I tend to look for info/solution everywhere at the same time, speeds up the process usually, so I messaged them as well already
It seems very likely to be a Smaato issue that G2M and Decisive don't know or don't want to talk about.
Decisive sent everyone an email about their super low traffic for the past week and G2M had issues but they didn't see anything wong on their side when I asked, and didn't get more info about the exchange being at fault here.
Thanks a lot for the answer!
I've started AM ~10weeks ago and for about 5 of those I had such issues with traffic, never really getting an answer if it's me or the exchange. So far it turned out to be the exchange or whole traffic source, since if it's me, the changes I make in my campaign will tell me in 1-2 hours if I broke or fixed something.
Oh, one thing to mention, I just chose the 2 biggest placements from 2 different campaigns, with 2 different offers in 2 different geos. But the decrease in traffic is across the board, so it's most likely a significant drop across the exchange.
I doubt that traffic suddenly disappeared, it is supposed to be showing somewhere on some exchange/traffic source, someone is probably making a killing with a sudden jump of (hopefully cheap) traffic from BBM
And it dissapread in a weird way that makes it look like it disappeared from G2M. So that means some other DSP is paying a better price or something. And also, BBM itself is a huge placement, how much can someone pay for it to buy out whole G2M?hey manusit i'm having the same problem.
i've tried tons of different camapaigns, accounts, creatives, placements, everything. all just get a trickle of traffic. started for me yesterday.
still haven't found a solution.
nexage is acting the same for me on g2m
The same happened with me, guys, with BBM ID from Decisive a couple of weeks ago. Traffic from that placement suddenly had dropped to zero and never came back. I've tried another account in case I was banned by Smaato or BBM - the same thing (btw, I never ran sweeps, only clean CPI). The same placement from Avazu mDSP works without any changes.
Lately, I've noticed Decisive has changed even very name of BBM placement! There is no BBM_Android_BBM_Android_300x250_Android_MEDIUMRECT ANGLE_300x250 anymore (at least for me), it's just general "BBM Android", without even size.
so, something big is happening with BBM now. changes are coming, but good ones or not - we'll see.
Decisive sent an email that their traffic will suffer greatly because of some technical issues with one of their exchange partners. It could actually be a technical issue or something else. They said it should be back to normal next week though, so we shall see. For G2M, since they don't work at all during the weekends, I guess we'll have to wait til Monday at least.
I just checked if BBM has been renamed for me, and it hasn't.
did you try to add it or just checked how it looks like ? because when I just check - mine looks good too.

the problem is - I can't see it anymore when adding.
Oh yeah, I see what you mean. I haven't been running on Decisive for quite some time so didn't check if I would make a new campaign how it looks. Still applies that they said this is a temporary issue for them, not sure if they meant this specifically or something else.
wow, now I can't see BBM on Decisive at all! here is my campaign, created a week ago, check the new name for BBM

and now I can't see even that short version!

That's what I saw now when I checked. FWIW, I still get traffic on that placement on G2M, just not like I did Friday. Anyway, already contacted G2M so will update in the thread with what they say, regarding both BBM specifically. Probably Monday evening GMT.
Just got confirmation there was indeed an issue over the weekend and they are working on it. Will update this thread once I get more info
Ive been talking to Decisive daily since Mon of last week. They are having a pretty big issue and was told yesterday that it still wasnt fixed.
Anyone else got traffic back? Mine came to a standstill.
Go2Mobi and Decisive both still partially out, Decisive most affected and no updates from them. Go2Mobi working on it and said should be fixed very soon. Not sure what that means, but their issue seems different and easier to fix.
I wasn't getting almost any traffic on Decisive. It wasn't 0 but it was only some WindowsPhone and iOS, no Android.
Decisive hopes to have it fixed by the end of the week.
Everything seems back to normal on Go2Mobi now
Got confirmation from support that it should be too.
