Hey there,
I try to follow the Mobile cookbook however, I feel like I'm slowed down from my affiliate network as it takes them several days to approve my banners...
Question to all the pros out there: Is is standard that it takes several days to approve banners (sent the 8 banners I created for an app install and waiting for 3 working days)...
Would it make sense to start working on different angles already?
Thanks for your honest response
It can take time.
If the advertiser demands to approve all creatives himself, that can slow things down a bit. 3 working days is a bit upsetting but take into consideration that there may be time differences issues (between you, the network and the advertiser) and that can make things more complicated.
I wouldnt worry about it yet, but ask your AM whats up with it. You can work on new angles in the meantime because whats the harm (unless you really dont have the time)? Send those for approval as well when you are done.
Banners and other creatives should be approved within two working days IMO.
Numbers at the end of the month that you can invoice usually take up to 10 days to be processed (chargebacks).
Sometimes it takes a few minutes, sometimes a day, sometimes they forget about you completely.
If you are just starting out, instead of working on more for the same offer (which takes forever to get approved it seems), I would work on another offer so that you can launch more than one offer.
Although the cookbook recommends trying one offer at the time, I think if you have the time and money, testing out more offers is best. You don't know what your selling style is best for, you won't know if the offer is any good for the traffic you are using, etc. I think your focus should be on launching at least 2 offers per week, even one per day if you can, until you see a few conversions to work with from there.
Also, try more affiliate networks. The same offer can perform very differently and, specifically for you, approval might be very very different. Hope it helps!
Manu.
think of this as a barrier to entry. most of the time not only would you not get your banners approved, they will also get rejected, offer paused, and a host of other issues.
the fastest way we got our banners approved by affiliate networks, is by sending it to 4-5 at a time, you might be surprised how quickly they approve when they realize another affiliate network has already approved your creatives.
its exactly these barriers of entry we need to overcome to be profitable here, and thats exactly what keeps others out from this trade.
we are highly aggressive with our approach to banner approval, we keep constant contact over all possible channels everyday to ensure that we are in the radar of traffic sources/affiliate networks, so that banners are approved as soon as possible.
even now i got a middle finger from a certain traffic source threatening to block my Skype if we kept contacting them. bottom line, problem always arises, keep finding solutions
And Pushing your account manager on skype/phone/linkedin to get approved. You need to be on top of their to-do list.
thank you all so much. As I come from a quite conflict driven profession (procurement - you're in negotiations with people heading in the opposite direction than you day in day out), overcoming barriers would not be that much of a problem from an "emotional" side...
I love these barriers because they do not make it easier for people looking for "quick and easy" solutions :-)
<offtopic>I think there are two more networks to apply for *lol* </offtopic>
day7 right now... sorry, but this is really ridiculous...
yep, another one of these beloved road blocks that - once I overcome them - moves me closer to this super-aff status ;-)
some of these AMs are bummers, we have some of them telling us funny stuff like
1. unable to contact advertiser
2. unable to get manager to approve
3. unable to get better payment terms due to xxxx(reason unimportant)
but actually, we are already in direct contact with the advertisers and chatting with them, and we got everything approved in other affiliate networks, and also everyone is paying us weeklies even before we send them volumes of traffic
