I recently wanted to promote my offer in the bio of one of my instagram accounts. But unfortunately instagram does not allow the offer. Is there a way around this? Maybe a link hack. Or do I just need to set up a landing page first.

Use a separate domain and redirect it by double meta-refresh to your offer.
use tumblr.com or blogger.com to mask your links behind a iframe, you should be fine doing this.
Hey, I have a really good experience with Instagram.
I created the profile, activated a bot (it automatically likes and comments posts) and then after 1 month I placed a link to my LP. I used a separate URL and my LP was one pager with a basic description of the product (Pure Asian Garcinia). So, from this page people get to the actual product page and purchase the product.
Instagram works great for me with muscle, diet and skin offers.
