Hey guys
On average does direct linking work better for app installs on Google Play or Apple App Store?
I'm finding the process of creating separate LPs for every offer rather difficult during testing and they don't seem to work too well. I'm thinking of just testing numerous offers with different banner angles instead, but wanted to know what you guys think?
Direct linking to the app store usually works if it is well branded and the end user has already seen some type of marketing or have heard of it.
Usually a LP is preferable but in mobile apps there is an issue of speed. It takes longer to load them (LPs) on mobile than on desktop and it can hurt your CR overall.
It can also explain why you dont find them working better than DL.
If you find DL working better for you, than just DL. Although the best thing to do is split test each offer (eventhough it is very time consuming).
As tony said, if its a well known brand its better/easier to convert even if you dont use a LP.
I've never had a profitable app install campaign direct linking. Certainly possible but most use landing pages.
Especially in 2015, especially for the "usual app install offers" and especially on the "well known" traffic sources.
I've seen occasional campaigns that were profitable direct-linking to apps, but yeah, landers most of the way.
As mentioned by affiliaxoran, though, do be very careful to make sure your landers are FAST.
Does it Matter what what the traffic source is ?
Banners Vs Pops for example ?
@v1r4l4adv - That's tolerable but I'd usually aim for faster. 0.3s is probably the average load time I'd prefer, 0.1s or faster is doable in some geos (not counting rendering time), and you will see a difference from it if you can get there.
Its a matter of testing it - for some apps it works better with an LP, for others not. Split run your traffic 50/50 and test it out for a day or two before deciding to go with or without LP.
It doesn't have to be difficult to make landers. I thought it would have been too but I ended up making 2-3 different templates and all I do is replace the image, text and CTA and done! You can easily adjust fonts and do whatever you want with it quickly.

True!
these landers are especially as there is nothing behind - nothing get stored so its just a simple page to click tru (the answers to the questions don't matter & dont get stored)
