From the newbie guide and from what the experts are preaching - STM local networking events are really important.
From my point of view, these meetups are for building relationships and networks among people who are knowledgeable and banking in AM, correct me if I'm wrong.
Being a newbie someone who just joined the AM/IM world, 1) How to get the most out of such local events/meetups. 2)What value can I provide?
3) What kind of networks I should start building as a starting point?

i wouldn't worry so much about providing value. unless u have some special skill.
the good thing about the meet ups is that it is a friendly informal atmosphere. You can connect with people on a personal level rather than just 'what can you do for me' business level.
show up. talk to people. make friends.
My most important tip is to be cool.
Have fun, smile, and be friendly. If I want to network with someone, the most important thing is if I like them on a personal level.
Don't put so much pressure on yourself, there are always more networking events.
