Hey friends, I am struggling on setting up tracking system. Its really getting on my nerves. However as its very essential I wont give up.
So what I wanted to know is that how many tokens should be placed in the campaign. As there are different tokens varying from traffic sources.
What are the essential tokens that are required in any campaigns.
Also about the Postback Pixel. Is it good to use S2S always ?
Thanks
Yes, always use S2S. Its way more secure and accurate than C2S image or iframe pixels.
What platform are you using?
AFAIK, S2S postback works better than pixels.
As for traffic network tokens - I always add all available tokens to
Having said that - AFAIK there are no "essential" traffic source tokens that absolutely have to be included in voluum. Voluum will automatically detect a lot of info from the visitors - stuff like geo, ip, carrier, device, model, referrer, isp, etc. You don't have to set up tokens from the traffic source. However, if the traffic source has different placements that are sending you traffic, and you're not planning to set up a separate camp for each placement, then you would at least want to use the placements token to track which placements are converting (or not) so you can cut the bad ones.
Another important tracking token is the one that tracks which banners are receiving impressions, clicks, and conversions. Without knowing this, you can't possibly know which banners are working (or not).
So, data on placements and banners - these are 2 examples of things that voluum can't possibly detect unless the traffic source passes this info to voluum via tokens.
Therefore, although you don't HAVE to use tokens from traffic sources, I would STRONGLY suggest that you at least track placements and banners. But really, what's the harm of using all tracking tokens available? After all, you only have to set them up in voluum once!

As Amy said, use ALL available tokens. Its better to have the data and not use it than not have the data and need it.
Btw, if you have trouble understanding tracking, these two posts from me and Amy will help you get it: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...l=1#post229617 (read mine first, then Amy's)
Good luck!
