Just found out I can make video ads and optimize for conversions. Apparently it's been live for about 3 weeks and I just didn't notice it. I'm going to throw up a few tests using some aftereffects templates and see if it's worth pursuing. I'm driving traffic to a high converting mass appeal lander that's worth about $0.75-$1.50 an optin to me depending on the demo.
Anybody tested video ads before? Any major do's or don'ts to offer?
Edit - Here's the post about website clicks/conversion optimization for video ads - https://facebookmarketingpartners.co...cks-objective/
I've been promoting video ads (boost post, not website clicks) for a while and I've found out that the same image when used as thumbnail of video will get a slightly better CTR than using it as a photo post.
Anyway the disadvantage of using video ads is that the videos are not HD by default (and there is no way to make it show HD by default for users) and you'll get a low ratio between video views/website clicks.
Video ads kill website clicks CTR. I have no luck with them, been testing for quite some time. CPC's for website click when doing video ads usually go 0.30ish+ for US demo, while picture taken from literally same video does 0.15ish CPC's. Didn't notice any difference in traffic quality.
Yup, the absolute classic problem with a video ad - on any platform, not just Facebook - is that they get high engagement and low CTR. People just aren't used to clicking on videos (or at least, that's my hypothesis).
Ya, I've never tested them because of the cost. Still going to test them out now that I can do oCPM website conversion campaigns with them. Thanks for the replies guys.
