Still learning, been unprofitable on a few campaigns but striving forward.
I would feel somewhat successful about my new campaign if it didn't rack up the cost
of 10 clicks (Avg cpc $5) with only one becoming a phone call. Lucky for me that one phone call
converted so that was a nice pearl in the wreckage.
I have call to actions referring to a phone call i.e. "call now" "Call us" "call for details"
and have put call us in the display url too.
My niche is not directly related to a product you would automatically call for such as a taxi or something, so I feel that might make things difficult for this campaign.
My questions are; is there any more ways I could combat this? And with some industries that are not related to services/products that you would automatically dial your phone for are there different strategies that come into play?
Thank you
Really hard to give any suggestions without more info.
Right now this is a little like saying "Why is my company not more profitable? We are in the services business."
What specifically are you pushing, what have you tried, how have you done this? What do your ads look like? What do your stats look like? What is your payout and what are your costs?
It's a cost of doing business in the Adwords world.
Simply put, many people aren't used to clicking on an ad and having a phone call pop-up. They are still expecting a landing page. You can write "Call" all over the ad, there is still going to be a lot of people clicking but not calling. 1/10 is a low percentage, but it's also a very low sample size. Expect 40%-50%. Although I've never tried your vertical on Pay Per Call.
Google gives you a forwarding number so they know damn well what's going on but they're playing dumb about it. YP PPCall doesn't charge you for hang-ups, short calls, etc. I highly doubt they have more advanced technology than Google.
And looking at your ads, "Call" and "Speak" should be more prominent. Try putting it in the 1st line and in an active voice. Ex. "Speak to an ED Specialist Now".
