Home office vs coworking space

I am curious to know how many of you work in your Home offices and able to totally get things done; whereas how many work in coworking spaces (or other places) though you could have chosen to work at home but decided not to.

Pros and cons?

I'm not a big fan of co-working spaces. Ergonomics, efficient workspace layout, and just having some Damn Big Monitors are all very important for how I work, and that's hard to do in a co-working space.

Quiet is also very good for me.

The networking in a co-working space is good, but you can get a lot of that by attending meetups and so on.

I feel like I do my best work/studying when Im alone, but if you work at home you need to make sure you dont have too many temptations that can get you sidetracked.

I can only work at home if my wife is busy with her job(she telecommutes), or not at home. I would prefer to have an office away from home, but I resort to a coffee shop or a library for now to steer clear of distractions. Too bad I can't bring my second monitor to those places.

Yeah, I too have been spoiled to use more than one monitor, though for sure there seems to be too much temptation to get side-tracked (kids, bed, ice-cream etc.) when working at home. Or maybe I will hire some small office space and set up a desk there and shut myself out while using a mastermind group to keep myself accountable?

I use to work out of co-working space in Sydney (this one http://fishburners.org). I had a permanent desk with a big monitor (I kept it there).

Awesome for networking, free beer and things like occasional visits of the founders of ZenDesk or Google's CFO Patrick Pichette and alike.

But for actual productive work it sucks. Too much noise, too many distractions and unnecessary commute.

I work better in quiet environment.

@adwater - that's a pretty good plan. I have a dedicated office in my home - if I didn't have that I suspect I'd get distracted more easily.

Also, my understanding is that the equation changes considerably if you have kids - I don't, so I can't comment on that.

I almost signed up for a coworking office with glass walls but it just doesn't make sense to me. Unless you need to network every single day with mostly the same people with new people here and there it's not worth it. Why not spend a little more on your living quarters and create a place that is comfortable and focus oriented at home.

Cost of housing is a little on the wild side in my city.
In average, people pay around $400USD for Parking Spot rental in an apartment building
