Hey STM
I'm wondering what CTR's you guys/girls get on popunders and banner ads on average, without loads of optimisation.
With popunder ads, I avg about 3% CTR with highs of 6% (very happy with this!). Banner ads (320 x 50) are a different story... typically around 0.5% if I'm lucky without any optimisation.
What do you usually come out with??
Cheers in advance
There is nothing called a good CTR. CTR means shit if it ain't converting. But these are the numbers I aim for:
- Display: 3% to 5% . I normally always get 2-3%
- Pops: This depends on the source. On ZeroPark, I would be happy with 6%. On PopAds that goes to about 20% or more.
But if you are getting 6% and say 80% of that 6% converts, then that's awesome!
Agree with arunbasillal, also depends on vertical and pop lander tricks for popunders. On popunders highest I would get is 70-80% ctr. Standard would probably be 20-30%, at 6% I would probably choose a different lander, but that again is too many variables involved. I run mostly aggressive landers that few advertisers and networks approve.
All you need to care about is ROI or CV.
Thanks egor and arunbasillal that makes a lot of sense!
Potentially have to go back to the drawing board/change offers with this campaign then as I have no conversion data to go off!
I suppose a good example of why CTR doesn't mean shit is: Displaying a pair of tits on a banner ad that your trying to flog food vouchers on.
Thanks again
Good call. Trying to optimise something that's generating 0 leads is time much better spent launching more!
