I have no problem using my real name and URL with my main list... but for other lists, like ones in the adult market, I'd rather keep my real name and info as private as possible.
Are there any guides, tips, or resources for using a pen name via email marketing?
For example, in the adult market I'd like to test an angle where the sender is a female who writes sexy emails in order to destress and escape. The emails would eventually lead to pics and videos of her (I already have a couple women I know, personally, who would create the content for me).
Obviously, I don't need a bunch of dudes coming over to my home and thinking I'm a chick. As for my setup, I'm using a private software that links with servers and smtp services (Mandrill, Amazon, etc.). Aside from that, I'm not much of a tech guy so I don't know how to go about keeping my info private.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
general guidelines:
- do not use your real name in the whois info of any domain
- do not use your real name in the newsletter, or anywhere else
- do not use your real address. open a PO Box and use the street address version of it (ask at the post office, they offer this service explicitly now)
- ideally, if you're really paranoid, you could set up a virtual credit card and use a fake name and address even with the service you use, like mandrill etc
with this you should be pretty isolated from the email operation
